January 4, 200620 yr I had a pretty lengthy debate with a co-worker today about where the best steak in the city of chicago is served. Much popularity goes to the Chop House, but I find that many people have bad things to say about it as well. being that I have eaten at pretty much a large majority of the steak establishments in chicago, I would have to say my favorite considering all aspects of atmosphere, price, menu, and sides, would be Phil Stefani's followed closely by Mortons. What is yours?
January 4, 200620 yr QUOTE(BDavisFutureHOF @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 06:11 PM) The Palm -- Hands down it must be difficult to eat a steak that way.
January 4, 200620 yr I like the Chop House, Sullivan's makes a nice steak. My brother sends me some steaks every year from the supplier of most of the steakhouses, Allen brothers I believe, so my favorite steak is one I make on my 20 year old basic Weber.
January 4, 200620 yr QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) it must be difficult to eat a steak that way. That's pretty good
January 4, 200620 yr QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 12:28 PM) lets give some reasoning behind it Because I said so.
January 4, 200620 yr Here's one many of you have probably never heard of, but the steak I had there was TOP notch and it's definitely worth a shot. My wife also raved about the Cedar Planked Salmon. Finley's Grill Room I've been to all the big ones, Ruth's Chris, Mortons, Gibsons, Smith and Wollensky, Sullivans, Wildfire. I won't knock those cause to me a steak is like sex. Even if it's not great, it's still pretty dam good, but Finley's is my new favorite!! Edited January 4, 200620 yr by Controlled Chaos
January 4, 200620 yr QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) lets give some reasoning behind it Reasoning behind your favorite steak? It tastes better I want to try the Chop House, but never have... Out of where I have been I like Capial Grille and Ruth Chris's a lot.
January 4, 200620 yr Ruth Chris and Mortons (in that order). Oh and Ruth Chris Potatoes Au Grautin = AMAZING. I don't ever buy steaks unless I'm at one of those two places (which is maybe once a year). Otherwise I pick up my steaks at Costco and cook em on the grill. I'm a chicken, seafood or ribs guy if I eat out. Whats everyone's favorite cuts of steak: I go with Porterhouse, New York Strip, and Rib Eye
January 4, 200620 yr I used to like Ruth Chris.. but had a bad experience in Mexico and can't get past trying them again. There really are so many good steak places out there.

There really are so many good steak places out there. I dont like that place because I cant fathom why its sitting in so much butter. I like Phils because of the bone in ribeye, but for my money, i prefer a prime rib.
January 4, 200620 yr QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 12:22 PM) Gibson's Would not go back. I do not know why they ask you how you would like your steak cooked, because it seems like they cook every steak to medium. I like Morton's Ruth's Chris and On the cheaper end costwise but not quality wise Golden Steer in Forest Park.
