Tough s*** for Haeger. He wants to pitch in a major league rotation one day, he can't have even half of these walk totals. Considering hit totals will likely be present for him (as well as any knuckleballer) and it's difficult to hold runners, issuing free passes isn't very conducive to winning.

Is he performing about as expected for anyone else, or is it just me?

I looked at his walk totals at AAA the other day and knew he was going to get rocked.

This is what I saw out of him in ST, so I figured it was going to happen again. Hes just not ready.

I saw him in Spring Training, and I thought he sucked. Watching him tonight....well, nothing's changed.

He's where I expected. Lots of people here have way to high expectations for big league debuts.

You honestly thought he would walk 7?

The run total isn't all that surprising...

When I saw him in ST I wasn't too impressed.

I was just hoping he could pitch 5 innings and have us in the game.

I wonder who you may be talking about...

The last really good knucklerballers were Charlie Hough and Hoyt Willhelm and about 2 or 3 others. Can't say i expect Haeger to set the world on fire.

I'd be a lot more concerned if there was more than one hard hit ball against him. It is his first big league start. Next time out will be a lot more telling.

well, so much for the sweep, im out.

I expected failure, as I do every minor leaguer traveling through our organization. Doesn't make it any less aggrivating to watch. I'd rather have been wrong and watched Haeger throw a quality game.

As I said earlier, 4 ER over 6 innings would have been expected. 6 walks is simply not good. Especially for a knuckleballer. Why swing your bat at all if he can't locate pitches?

Atleast Molina prevented Haeger from his 7th walk. Unfortunately, his ERA rises again. Haeger's meatballs are eating up our infielders.

Were the fans trying to show Haeger some support with their applause or was that solely for BMac?

I feel for poor Haeger.

You would have found something to not like

The combination of rocket ground balls and an excessive amount of balls/walks can make any infield look like complete crap. Too much inactivity to be ready to make a play.

Perhaps we should give Haeger a ton of time to develop at the major league level like we did with Garland or Crede.

It was for B-Mac

For a team struggling like the Angels were, Christmas came early for them.

seeing bmac throw one pitch made me feel better

Brandon not looking any better than Chuck early on.

Never mind, came back and got him.

Um..can I agree to disagree?

The first part of the atbat looked ugly.

I guess we can just judge early returns on Haeger though. Brandon's exempt.

On the bright side, Santana's been in that dugout cooling off for quite awhile now.

Personally, I throw out a poor major league debut and chalk it up to nerves. Obviously his walk rate was high coming in, but not this high. Even if we lose both of Haeg's starts (assuming he starts vs Minnie) that's a blow we can cushion.

GET WIDGER UP...AJ is making everyone look bad and he can't call a game...
