The 2006 team just did something the 2005 team never did...

Featured Replies

The Sox have gone 29-11 over their last 40 games!

The 2005 edition went 28-12 to start the year, and had a second 28-12 stretch from May 30th to July 17th (it became 29-12 on July 18th, but then was followed up by 3 game losing streak)

:gosox1:

We also won a series against Oakland.

If anyone could tell me they were feeling good going into this series with Oakland you are lying. They have owned us since 2001.

They have owned us at Oakland, but I seem to remember at least winning one series at home against them in the past five years...

EDIT: August 8-10 2003 :P

I would venture to say that we are at least .500 at home against them since 2001...

Since '83? Holy f***. LEt's get this. Go get 'em Buerhle! :fight

Unfortunately, Buehrle seems to have the most trouble with them out of all of our pitchers. Am I right in saying that?

Thanks, buddy. Welcome to Soxtalk. I loved your squeeze on Monday night. :cheers

EDIT: And it's the unearned runs that kill Buehrle, once again.

Crazy how many Unearned runs there are when he pitches...

Also looks like CG or bust for him vs. Oakland.

One interesting thing about Buehrle, his career "run average" is 4.11 compared to his "earned run average" of 3.60. A .51 difference.

I'm guessing .51 is way higher than normal, right?

Maybe Frank Thomas brings bad mojo to his team in the Oakland vs. Chicago series?

Considering we have only beaten them in 2 series at home and neither was a sweep, I would highly doubt it.

That's an extra run per 2 starts. So yeah, that's a lot.

Its hard to say that without knowing what the league averages look like.

Well, I havn't exactly delved into it but I did compare it to someone with a very similar career ERA, in Roy Halladay.

His "run average" is 4.09 compared to his ERA of 3.65 so a .44 difference.

I'll try to find the league averages though because that would be the best way to compare.

Hey professor, your upside in the field of mathematics is through the roof!

After looking at our 13-34 record against them since 2001, you think that we are at least .500 against them at home?

So, you were thinking along these lines:

12-12 at home

1-22 on the road

Does that sound right to you?

Since the end of the 2001 season, we are 8-9 against them. I was one game off. So sue me.

We're 5-25 in Oakland since 2001?

We have played 30 games in their stadium, and only 17 games at home?

I don't know, I'm too lazy to actually look into this myself. Forget that I ever said anything.

Okay, 7-14 at home coming into this year, and 4-20 in Oakland. That sounds about right.

Thanks for doing the research, dude. :cheers
