This team is absolutely burning hot right now but this game worries me a bit. Freddy was basically 05 Freddy his last start and he just looked much better overall(though he still gave up 4 runs). Hopefully he can keep the cards down and watch the O score 25 today.

The offense is gonna have to continue to put up double digits to counter 'Long Ball' Freddy.

GO Garcia, and Mackowiak

Please Freddy, keep the ball down so the Sox bats can carry you to the W and another 3 game sweep! :gosox1:

Freddy, if we lose this game, we're right where we were when we started this series. We win this game, and we're 1/2 game behind the Tigers. Take em out!

Let's score 40 tonight :headbang

I'm really liking Freddy's chances to get another W. His record is 17-6 in interleague games and the Cards offense is positively impotent right now without Pujols.

The Sox offense should not be intimidated by Reyes at all. He has pitched 2 major league starts this season in May against the Royals and the Stros. If Reyes can only go 6 innings and give up 3 runs against the Stros, imagine what is going to happen tonight against the Sox. It's not going to be pretty at all for the Cards. Again

Yep, and their lineup loses Edmonds tonight so not much harm done doing that.

Pujols about 40 times better than Edmonds.

He's saying there's not much harm in walking Pujols everytime up because Edmonds is out. Of course Rolen is still there but it's much less prolific without that crazy lefty power bat.

Pujols in, Mulder out

Here's the skinny...

1. Albert Pujols was activated from the DL today. He's starting at first base and batting third. He said everything feels normal and he's good to go.

2. Mark Mulder was placed on the 15-day DL with what the team is calling a left shoulder strain, but the whole thing is pretty odd. Mulder basically can't get full extension of his arm, and that's all they really seem to be sure of.

No muscle or tendon or anything has been identified as the culprit. He'll be examined tomorrow by Dr. Paletta in St. Louis. According to TLR, there's a pretty good chance that they'll hold him out through the All-Star break, but nothing is set in stone until they check everything out.

3. As expected, Anthony Reyes was added to the roster to make the start tonight. The final piece of roster juggling was that Chris Duncan was optioned to Memphis.

4. Sidney Ponson threw a bullpen today and will take Mulder's turn in the rotation on Sunday.

5. Jim Edmonds is in the lineup.

I'll have more depth on all of this, of course, in my notebook later this evening.

-M.

If Pujols is going to be back tonight, any chance that the White Sox will play all their regular starters just in case?

No Edmonds? That will help Freddy's cause for sure.

I am really curious now, they usually have the line-up up by now on mlb.com - anyone have something concrete to tell us?

Edit just checked back to mlb.com

Edmonds will not be playing and Pujols will be playing first base

Usual suspects for the Sox - jimedmonds15 had it right

Is that Theo Epstein in your avatar?

You should have the best GM in baseball in there, not some punk from New England.
