July 7, 200619 yr QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) GIMME A HELL YEAH! LOL. Aren't you Mr. glass is always half full?
July 7, 200619 yr We can only hope we don't see him again. I love what he did for us last year, but he's just pathetic this season.
July 7, 200619 yr Politte did look good in the 8th. He had some improved velocity on his fastball (I saw 93 once) with some rise too.
July 7, 200619 yr QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) with this situation, there isn't even a glass in the room All we need is for Jphat to start clownin' Cliff. That's when you know it's over. Edited July 7, 200619 yr by Jordan4life_2006
July 7, 200619 yr QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) with this situation, there isn't even a glass in the room Yeah. The glass got broke by a screaming line drive hit from one of Politte's meatballs.
July 7, 200619 yr QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 03:13 AM) Politte did look good in the 8th. He had some improved velocity on his fastball (I saw 93 once) with some rise too. From what I saw, there was a very deep fly ball caught at the track (Hernandez had a meat ball to crush) and Uribe made a very good play to get another out. Politte is awful!
July 7, 200619 yr I don't think we have to celebrate Cliff's downfall. I don't want him on this team anymore. He is a broken pitcher. But I don't take pleasure in ridiculing the poor man. He did a lot, and he's tried this year. Forgive me, but I understand that he's done all he can do -- sad though that is -- and am not going to blast him away. It's not like he was a player with a bad attitude in our clubhouse.
July 7, 200619 yr QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) Wow, the guy does suck, but this thread is a little harsh. No it isin't. Not after his latest display of dogs***.

July 7, 200619 yr Look, I realize how inconsistant relief pitchers can be, but I've never seen anything like this before in my life. Cliff Politte makes Shingo, Koch, Biddle or any other former Sox scrub you can think of look like a legitimate all-star. How does one fall this hard in one year?
July 7, 200619 yr QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 09:14 PM) All we need is for Jphat to start clownin' Cliff. That's when you know it's over. Well, I think it's apparent that Cliff just doesn't have the combo of Stuff and location this year. Stuff looks better than it did at the beginning of the season, but the location is just awful this year. Like I said in the game thread, thanks for 05 Cliff. His season was absolutely critical last year.
July 7, 200619 yr QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) Wow, the guy does suck, but this thread is a little harsh. There is no such thing as grace anymore. A guy gives you the best year of his career and the worst, but in each he tries to the best of his ability, shows up to work, does what is asked of him, and works hard. His career collapses, and that makes him a perfectly valid target for ridicule and attack. :headshake
July 7, 200619 yr homeboy's been teabagged by opposing batters of all kind...I hope we dont have to see him again....ever.
July 7, 200619 yr QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) Look, I realize how inconsistant relief pitchers can be, but I've never seen anything like this before in my life. Cliff Politte makes Shingo, Koch, Biddle or any other former Sox scrub you can think of look like a legitimate all-star. How does one fall this hard in one year? Thats what I want to know. He was consistently awesome all of last season so its not like he had a fluke month or something. Did he suddenly forget how to pitch in the off season?

Very good post.

Maybe we should be asking how was he so good last year with similar velocity, etc.? I know he had great command last season, but the stat about him being the luckiest pitcher last season seems very prophetic.
July 7, 200619 yr QUOTE(jenksd @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 03:20 AM) why would this thread title be changed? lame Agreed, the old thread title made me lol. Is this because of the "player attack" rule? Do we really need to be that PC when we know the guy doesn't have it and is pitching like trash? I don't think we are hurting anyones feelings here. Edited July 7, 200619 yr by SoxFanForever
