October 6, 200619 yr Bye Bye Minny! How cute, Little Nicky Punto, telling Minny fans that a championship was coming back to Minny. At least you got a little dirty sliding into first base, huh? WOOT!!!! Edited October 6, 200619 yr by CWSGuy406

October 7, 200619 yr Let's see horrible % with RISP, a bunch of solo HRs, bullpen collapsing.... Are you the A's played the Sox and not the Twins? Anyway, can't say I didn't love watching that Twins dugout on TV at the end of the game.
October 7, 200619 yr it was a nice run, but some good things come to a crashing firey end. next year should be fun with Santana/Liriano/Boof as the 1-2-3 pitchers.
October 7, 200619 yr Sucks for the Twins. 3 up 3 down. As for Radke, he probably threw his last pitch. I am sure some of that emotion was mixed with the sweep.
October 7, 200619 yr Is that Minnesota radio station doing funeral services for the Twins as they did for the White Sox a few weeks back? On another note, has anybody heard from batgirl in the past few days? Her brand of nonsense has been silent.
October 8, 200619 yr QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 06:20 PM) Should this thread still be called "Twins Playoff Thread"? No, it shouldn't.
October 8, 200619 yr They honestly don't scare me for next year unless Liriano is 100% healthy. Otherwise you've got a decent lineup at best and a mediocre rotation. A good pen and solid defense can only do so much in that situation...
October 8, 200619 yr The Twins season next year is pretty dependant on Liriano imo. If he's healthy they're going to be pretty darn good again, if he's not, they wont even be a thought. Radke is going to retire and Matt Garza is going to be a disappointment. Oh ya, Jason Tyner isn't going to hit .312 again, Jason Bartlett isn't going to hit .309 again, hell Nick Punto will not hit .290 again. If the Twins win it's going to be on the arms of the two studs at the top, only problem for them is I doubt Liriano can make it through a whole season healthy. Edited October 8, 200619 yr by Rowand44

I agree, they had an awful lot of guys in the lineup producing well over their career numbers. Even Morneau and Cuddyer are no locks to repeat their performances (though I wouldn't bet against the former). That'd make my off-season if they don't do anything major, I don't see a run like they had from June on happening again.

I still think Mauer's knee could be an issue as time goes on.
October 9, 200619 yr Dear Justin Morneau, Perhaps next time, instead of saying that the one thing you want to do is keep the White Sox out of the playoffs, maybe you should considering offering up this little tidbit, "I want to win the World Series and I don't care who we have to beat to do it." Love, ...O' Corn PS. Hope that wedge treats you well this offseason. Well, actually, I hope someone beats you over the head with it.

I agree about the offense, but I think the pitching is better then you give them credit for. Why do you think Garza will be a disappointment? Granted, he's no Santana, but I think he can be a solid #3 pitcher. I like Bonser a lot, but he needs to stay healthy. Anything they get out of Liriano is a plus. But it's Minnesota's bullpen that's awesome. Bob
October 9, 200619 yr The Twins rotation without Liriano is pretty bleh. Yes Santana is amazing but they are going to be lacking everywhere else. The Twins could take a few serious steps back next year especially since they had a ton of fluke seasons.
