The Rockies are now 20-7 in their last 27 to turn a horrid 18-27 to a respectable by NL standards 38-34, only 3 and a half out of 1st (although also only good for 4th in the quietly really good NL West). Jeff Francis is on fire and today's winner, Rodrigo Lopez, has had a bewildering resurgance this year. And they have a lot of guys that can hit. Also, the Brewers are red hot and if you take a look at their schedule the next few weeks, they have a chance to really make hay and build a lead in the NL Central that is insurmountable. "It's just a crack," VP of baseball operations Jim Duquette said. "That means it will heal, but if you re-injure it and it becomes a fracture, then the only way to make it heal properly is to put a screw in it. That's certainly more complicated." Doctors told team officials that it was going to be a week to 10 days before the injury starts healing. If Tejada wants to try to play through it, the Orioles would probably let him. "He said that he was sore, but he could play," Duquette said. "He thinks it is going to feel better. He seems to have a very high pain threshold, but you don't want to risk making it worse." That's about as drastic a turnaround as you can find considering how many AB's Figgins had when his average was at the low point (he missed almost all of April, but still).
