2007 MLB Catch-All Thread

Rockies beat the Yanks 4-3 today to sweep 3 in a row from the formerly red hot New Yorkers. The Rockies are now 20-7 in their last 27 to turn a horrid 18-27 to a respectable by NL standards 38-34, only 3 and a half out of 1st (although also only good for 4th in the quietly really good NL West). Jeff Francis is on fire and today's winner, Rodrigo Lopez, has had a bewildering resurgance this year. And they have a lot of guys that can hit.

Also, the Brewers are red hot and if you take a look at their schedule the next few weeks, they have a chance to really make hay and build a lead in the NL Central that is insurmountable.

More on Tejada, from Rotoworld:

The Orioles confirmed that Miguel Tejada has a small, non-displaced fracture in his left wrist and said the shortstop hopes to play through the injury.

"It's just a crack," VP of baseball operations Jim Duquette said. "That means it will heal, but if you re-injure it and it becomes a fracture, then the only way to make it heal properly is to put a screw in it. That's certainly more complicated." Doctors told team officials that it was going to be a week to 10 days before the injury starts healing. If Tejada wants to try to play through it, the Orioles would probably let him. "He said that he was sore, but he could play," Duquette said. "He thinks it is going to feel better. He seems to have a very high pain threshold, but you don't want to risk making it worse." Jun. 22 - 1:16 am et

So much for his trade value. Trying to play through it sounds nuts. Is he gonna do this one-bunt-and-out crap every game for the next month? He said he couldn't swing without pain yesterday. So now he'll just play through it? It's an ugly scene in Baltimore.

Edit: Okay, they are sane. Tejada to the dl, the streak is over.

You guys need to check out the Jr video on mlb.com on his return to Seattle. Definitely cool to see. Shows you how much he is appreciated and how damn good he was in his prime.

I am patiently waiting for Frank's day...

Heavy rumors out there that a former Major League closer passed away yesterday. The name should be released later today.

1 month ago today, Chone Figgins was hitting .123, and he is now hitting .302 and even had 3 walks today. That's about as drastic a turnaround as you can find considering how many AB's Figgins had when his average was at the low point (he missed almost all of April, but still).

John Schuerholz is such an interesting and amazing guy.

It must have pained Joe Morgan to say that Pujols was the best hitter, and not Gary Sheffield.

Cough Arod Cough. Well Arod is still the best player in the game.

In a Sunday Night game a month ago, Joe Morgan gave a 5 minute speech about why Sheffield is not only the best hitter in the game, but also the best clubhouse person and possibly deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize.

Ya, I saw that. Joe Morgan is a freaking boob. I wanted him to shut up and just let Schurholtz talk (the best GM in baseball).

BTW, it's too bad UC-Irvine didn't face Oregon St in the finals. The Beavers-'Eaters scoreboard would have been a classic.

Also, the Verlander/Bonderman/Miller trio is going to be just filthy.

Does anyone know why John Schuerholz took the Atlanta job after leaving KC? We should've got him. But I guess he never played for the organization, so... :P

If you want to get really drunk on a Sunday night, take a shot for every time Joe Morgan goes out of his way to praise a minority.

Looks like indeed we'll have to add Porcello.

No shock...that team's going to be phenomenal. Miller was throwing 96 mph in the 6th inning.

Jerry Reinsdorf is still a cheap bastard. If he'd have spent the money last offseason, we'd be in first place right now!

How do you think Boras is feeling about A. Jones and Crede right about now?

Jones will get his money.

Dodgers moving Nomar to third.

All hell is breaking loose in Cubs game. Eyre/Howry gave up 6 runs in like 3 minutes to blow the lead, and a fan went out to tackle Howry after it.

Those god damn sox fans are everywhere!

HAHAHA, good to know the world is right and the Cubs still suck at life. And the Brew Crew already won.

I hate you Kaz Matsui.
