January 6, 200719 yr 30 HR's 100 RBI's .285 BA .355 OBP, a little decrease from the past three seasons.
January 6, 200719 yr i think this is the year he takes home MVP and leads the sox to the post season .331/.390/.571 961OPS 45HR 2SB 1CS Edited January 6, 200719 yr by beautox
January 6, 200719 yr Anyone else think Konerko has a shot at the HOF he currently has 245HR at age 30, and to get to 500 he needs to average a lil over 25 for the next 10 years. I'd love to hear everyone's opinions on this.

January 6, 200719 yr No HOF for Paul, great major league player, but certainly has not done anything spectacular in his career. I hope he ends his career in a White Sox uni as a DH. As for '07: .304/.397/.503 36 HRs 111 RBIs 1 SB 3 CS lots of GDIPs Edited January 6, 200719 yr by maggsmaggs
January 6, 200719 yr Good point, should have added that Konerko will lead the league in GIDP, and will go through three or four stretches during the season where you can walk away from TV, and just assume that he's going to ground into a DP.
January 6, 200719 yr QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 05:19 PM) .269/ 17/ 71 think Konerko will have a down year I think the only way he produces that poorly of a season is via injury. My basis is that Paulie has been a great overall hitter for 80% of his career and I think a major regression like that could only be explained with an injury.
January 6, 200719 yr I give Pauley the benefit of the doubt that this past season really stuck in his craw (whatever the hell that is). I look for him to come back very focused and very refreshed ready to lead this team. .320 45 HR 115 RBI 2 SB
January 7, 200719 yr I seriously doubt Paulie reaches 500 dingers. Therefore, I seriously doubt he'll be a serious HOF candidate. He's a slow firstbaseman. The 500 mark is the only way he'll make it.
January 7, 200719 yr .282 AVG 36HR 118RBI Zero chance of making the Hall, but he will challenge for the all-time GIDP crown.
January 7, 200719 yr I was looking at Konerko's career stats and was startled to see that he hasn't been caught stealing since '98 when he was with the Dodgers. With the Sox, he has 5 stolen bases in 5 tries!
January 7, 200719 yr QUOTE(BaseballNick @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 11:13 PM) .282 AVG 36HR 118RBI Zero chance of making the Hall, but he will challenge for the all-time GIDP crown. Actually, this would be a pretty nice list to be on. Player_________________ AB GIDP Cal Ripken__________ 11,551 350 Hank Aaron__________ 12,364 328 Carl Yastrzemski____ 11,988 323 Dave Winfield_______ 11,003 319 Eddie Murray________ 11,336 316 Jim Rice_____________ 8,225 315 Julio Franco_________ 8,587 310 Harold Baines________ 9,908 298 Brooks Robinson_____ 10,654 297 Rusty Staub__________ 9,720 297 Kong is currently #151 on the list with 172 GIDP in 4,561 AB. He's always been at about 4% of his AB. To catch Ripken he would need to play about 8 more seasons at his current level. Should he also average 32 Dings a year during that span he will get to 500 at age 38. Not impossible (4 yrs @ 40 + 4 yrs @ 23) and coupled with his squeaky clean record, ALCS MVP and WS grand slam I think it could put him in the Hall.

He may hit 500 home runs, but now 500 homeruns is not an automatic Hall of Famer since so many people are reaching it. I agrtee that Paulie has a squeeky clean resume, but he would, IMO, have to win an couple of MVPs or at least one coupled with the 500 home runs to have a shot. Realistically, Paulie has never been a top 5 player at his position at any time, this fact will really hurt him since he has never been elite, just uber-solid.
January 7, 200719 yr When his career is over, I think he should be on the ballot but he won't make it.
