On a team loaded with starters, who's our ace?

My pick is Contreras, though that could change if Javy can rock and roll.

adding up the rest over the winter, with the impending free agency, and the new workout program that has been talked about, I am going to go with Mark Buehrle.

I would love that. If he can go back to his 3.50ish era ways, this team is going to look very good.

Jonathon.

Mark or Jose.

Currently the voting sits at 3,2,3,3, with Vasquez the guy at 2... now that's balance!

Its going to be Garland, he gets better every year.

I would have voted for Vazquez but there was only an option for Vasquez. :)

Vazquez will have a huge year. His late season numbers and performances bode well for 2007.

I want it to be Buehrle (and erase last year).

I chose the dark horse and picked Vasquez. Hell, if he is our ace we are in damn good shape. That guy always seems to be this/close to being awesome, and then the fifth comes along.

Not really, he's been consistently average since the 2002 season with the exception of '05 which was above his career norms.

The obvious answer is Jose Contreras since he has probably the second best stuff of any starter on the team and has had a season as the team's ace already. I gotta go with Vazquez though, all signs point to a break out year from him.

That 4.51 era sure was a considerable step up from the 3.50 he posted in 2005!

No intelligence on my part, just a gut feel, I'm thinking 18-20 wins for Buerhle. Rock solid all season. I also like Garland to continue to take steps towards the upper echelon of starters.

Based on the performance of everyone in that rotation last year, I'm going with Haeger.

MBINAA

:usa

that's the first thing I thought of when posting this poll...

i think this year its gonna be Vasquez. With 20 wins and an era of 3.21

i'd go with jon. His numbers last year were inflated by a horrible start to the season, but after that he rebounded nicely. Expect '05 numbers from freaklishy tall bean-pole (and no, not b-mac)

I'm hoping MB is once again. And he possibly could be, but for upcoming free agency to make the big bucks.

Big Jon

I think Mark will get back on track this year and emerge as our ace again.

Contreras.

See sig.

I like the optimism on Javier Vasquez for 2007. he definately has the stuff to do it.

Garland per usual

Buehrle is toast, hopefully he pitches decent enough this year and then leaves at the end of the year

I went with Garland because he seems to improve each year. I think MB is gonna have a very solid year though. If he repeats last year hes really gonna hurt his contract status.

Garland seems to have been the most consistent of the bunch. I therefore think hes our ace but year after year Buehrle has been chosen for this role and I dont see that changing.
