I hear ya - I still have a lot of pre-Black Album Metallica on the iPod, and when the shuffle hits it, I like to hear that stuff again.

I don't go seeking it out, though. You couldn't pry their cassettes out of the boombox back in the Mullet Era, but now their CDs have 3 inches of dust on them.

 

I don't know Lupe Fiasco, so I can't say if he (or she, or they) is THE s***, or just s***.

 

 

Working at a Southern Illinois mainstream rock station completely ruined Metallica for me, i cant even listen to their old stuff anymore.

 

Couple that with my distaste for Lars after the Napster fiasco which coincided with my employment at the station, they just became unlistenable for me. I understand their place in music and respect their accomplishments, im just not a fan anymore.

I wonder if Flogging Molly is enjoyable without drinking beer?

I disagree about any of it "ruling", but it's nice that they played for charity.

In my opinion, no band has fallen further from their height than Metallica, with the possible exception of the Goo Goo Dolls and Aerosmith. Not in terms of popularity or sales, but in terms of my enjoyment of what they do. Metallica was my favorite band by a long shot (bad pun intended ), but that seems like forever ago now.

I never even expected them to top Ride The Lightning, but I also never expected Nothing Else Matters, either of the Loads or St. Anger, among many other things I didn't like.

Mis-steps are one thing, a LONG series of sub-par junk is quite another.

No, but I got the DVD, really cool. I saw them live about 2 years ago and it was an incredible experience.

I have never liked women singers except for maybe one or two,but Feist is pretty damn good.She has a powerful voice but unlike most women with the powerful voice she doesn't just scream or drag every note possible out of every word.And who doesn't like the 1,2,3,4 song?

I don't consider my taste in music eccentric (I don't even think you know what my taste in music is ), but I just find that song to be very annoying, as opposed to 'catchy.'

A friend gave me the last My Chemical Romance album - I have no idea what they look like, and I've never seen any of their videos, and they get a lot of s*** from posters I've seen, but this album is great. Good fast catchy songs - what more do you want? It's in major rotation on my ipod.

Feist is pretty good. Her "hits" gave me false hopes for AMAZING albums, but she's good nonetheless.

Chemical is a good band. Nothing to be ashamed about.

 

I kind of like that "1234" song also, but it is VERY Bjork-like. The video is great.

I saw MCR open for Face To Face a few years ago, and the F2F fans were NOT happy about My Chemical Romance being on the bill.

They were complaining about the number of "posers" in line to see MCR and the fact that having them on the bill made tickets harder to get.

I hadn't heard of them, so I asked one kid what they were like. He said, "You'll like them if you're into SUPER-SCARY VAMPIRES!!"

(bold green added to reflect his sarcasm, since the eye-rolly smiley is gone)

Watched the documentary "Rock School" last night. I would recommend it to all the rockers in here.

I must've deleted that part of my original post accidentally. I know I typed it and now when I saw it quoted I was like this:

 

I thought they were really good live. I like their records (YEAH, I still call them "records", I'm an old f***, leave me alone), but live they really impressed me.

I still like Face To Face so much more, but I think MCR are very good.

LOL!I cant believe that is the lead singer to Flogging.Where is the irishman in him?I didnt even hear a hint of irish.

Most people lose their accents when they sing. If you hear an accent, chances are the vocalist is purposely putting it there to be in a certain genre. Such as those odd country singers who hail from Chicago and other northern states. Or odder yet, those Celtic bands from Chicago.

 

Dave King doesn't really like to talk about his Fastway days. Which is sad because the first two albums are VERY good albums with some great vocals. The guitarist is Fast Eddie Clarke from Motorhead and the drummer was Jerry Shirley from Humble Pie and Blue Cheer. The original bassist was Pete Way, who was a founder of UFO. They turned to a crap band, but that was once King left. While he was in the band, they were very respected. If you ask me, part of the reason for Flogging (small part probably, but still a part) is the fact that he stopped singing for a few years and probably lost that voice. I would lay money on it that he couldn't do that anymore.

 

His band after Fastway was Katmandu, and they had heaps of praise:

I used to not like MCR at all, but The Black Parade is a DAMN good album. I listen to it all the time...
