First techno show I've been to in ages, Saw Mistress Barbara at Smart Bar. Pretty good set. Technically flawless but track selection was about a 7 out of 10. Was impressed that she actually spun 100% vinyl.

Finally picked up GZA'a "Pro Tools". Very solid.

My Top 10 albums for 2008:

1) She & Him - Volume One

2) Coldplay - Viva la Vida

3) Beck - Modern Guilt

4) The Clash - Live at Shea Stadium

5) The Cure - 4:13 Dream

6) Conor Oberst - Conor Oberst

7) Jenny Lewis - Acid Tongue

8) Cat Power - Jukebox

9) Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak

10) Ben Folds - Way to Normal

I think I'm the only person my age who basically doesn't like any new stuff. I like something around 1 in 100 of the new songs I hear.

I didn't realize you were 48 years old.

Ha, I must be the only 23-year-old that doesn't like anything that came out in the 2000's.

I'm enjoying the latest disc from The Cure, "4:13 Dream".

The Cure's stuff doesn't vary much from disc to disc, but the melodies are catchy and I've always like Robert Smith's whiny voice.

Like I said in a previous post...the listen on that album is much better when you wear eyeliner.

I'm pretty much with you, except for hip hop, it's the only new stuff I can even listen to...

except I'm 22

Put me in the "Can't wait for 'The Lonely Island''s debut album" camp.

Tom Gabel lead singer for Against Me! just came out with a EP thats pretty rad.

Ben Nichols lead singer of Lucero also has a EP that you can get on their website that is most awesome.

New Common comes out today. Getting some lousy reviews.

Not a horrible album, but it's not what people are used to out of Common. Hence, this is gonna get horrible reviews.

Yet, if Kanye does something out of the ordinary...people praise it.

Funny how that works....

Keep in mind that Kanye’s working with some really good producers. Jon Brion might just be a musical genius, and while it was an unorthodox choice it was a good one.

From what I've read it's a big step back lyrically.

The neptunes suck.

I have it. Common said this was meant to be an album played and listened to when having a good time. So I knew off the bat I wouldn't get the Common I was exactly used to.

I'm still planning to pick it up but with low expectations.

The difference when Common and Kanye experiment is Kanye succeeds, whereas Common has made some truly awful s*** when he goes outside the box. The reason Be was so good was Kanye took him back to his roots with No ID and then Jdilla the next album.

I'm guessing you're not a fan of the Electric Circus album?

just absolute awfulness.

Damn, including myself i've only known 3 people that think it's not that bad of an album. Oh well, to each his own.
