Down goes Savery. Update your draft board, Flash!

I think all of the people talking about it on ESPN expect him to go to the Yanks.

One guy I haven't heard anybody mention (or maybe I missed it) is Tim Alderson.

Dude got some size and throws heat...and has a nasty curveball. I've probably seen him pitch 9 or 10 times the past 3 years of HS and he is tough. Got a good head on his shoulders too. His fastball (mid 90s) doesn't have quite the movement you'd like...but overall I really like this kid. Big kid 6-7". If he doesn't go in the first round I know he's committed to Oregon State.

All righty guys if someone else could pick up the slack, it would be great, as my work day is OVA!

I could see the Blue Jays taking him simply because they've wanted to start spending cash and they have, we'll see if they spend it smartly.

exactly

What's the scouting report on Borbon?

The team that selects before us that I could see taking Porcello is Texas. But I shouldn't get my hopes up too much, I'd be suprised if the Sox picked him if he's still on the board.

SOMEBODY TAKE SCHMIDT!!!!!!!!

i hope KW certainly watches SF pick 3 times and realizes that simply by letting go of buerhle we will get a 1st rounder and a sandwich pick....which might yield better prospects than by trading him.....that is if we dont resign him

I'd thought someone would never ask:

:)

Julio Borbon

Borbon is your prototypical leadoff hitting centerfielder that offers and exciting blend of speed, contact hitting and defense. He may never hit for much power, although scouts think he could one day swat 20 home runs a la Johnny Damon. For now he has enough power to find the gaps, and has plenty of speed to turn doubles into triples. He also handles the bat extermely well and manages the strike zone well beyond his years. He has mastered the drag bunt, and he rarely strikes out. He has enough speed to swipe 30+ bases annually, and his range in centerfield makes him a potential Gold Glove candidate. Borbon doesn't have much of an arm in the outfield, but that will be overlooked given his overall skillset. While Damon is a popular comparison, a better, yet equally unfair comparison may be Kenny Lofton. Borbon is also an excellent student and is hailed for his character and natural baseball instincts. He performed extremely well during the summer of 2006 playing for Team USA, which elevated his draft stock significantly.

What's the scouting report on Borbon?

19. Julio Borbon, of

School: Tennessee. Class: Jr.

B-T: L-L. Ht.: 6-1. Wt.: 190. Birthdate: 2/20/86.

Scouting Report: The top college outfielder in a draft virtually devoid of them, Borbon broke his ankle during an intrasquad game a week before the spring season started. He made it back to the Tennessee lineup by the end of March, but he had just two home runs and seven doubles in 143 at-bats. He had not shown the consistent hard contact that made him Team USA's catalyst last summer, when the college national team brought home a gold medal from the World University Championship in Cuba. At his best, Borbon is a top-of-the-order hitter who makes sharp contact and changes games with his plus speed. He's more than a slap-and-run type, with above-average bat speed and some sock in his bat. A Dominican native, he has an aggressive approach and doesn't walk often. His defense is adequate, but he could improve his reads and routes. A popular comparison for Borbon is Johnny Damon, for the pop in his bat as well as his speed and well-below-average arm. He was expected to be taken in the first round despite a lackluster junior year.
