2007 MLB Amateur Draft Thread

At the current pace, I project the White Sox first selection to come at about 3:15, or when they'd usually have 8-9 picks in the books.

Brew Crew could use a catcher here, so Moroscato is a good choice or Parker, the Indiana High schooler.

Wow -- what a reach.

WOWOWOWOW, LaPOrta gone, much earlier than anticipated.

WOW! This is an absolute shock. He's been labeled a future DH. Limited range and without many positions.

WHAT

Jesus Christ overdraft.

huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge reach

didn't see that coming.

What a strange pick....they're going to have to try and make him a catcher.

Well there goes my dream pick. LaPorta is unreal. The question is where does he play in the future.

You guys are calling him an overdraft, but I think he is talented enough to fit in this range. Signability dropped him a bit last year and he's probably an easy sign this year despite being a Boras guy.

Wow.

he aint playin 1b for the brew crew either.

yeah and he in the NL blocked by the best young first baseman in baseball.

My guess is they took him because he's an easy sign.

David Price is nothing more than a #2 starter. Not a lot of risk in the pick, but there are about four or five pitchers with higher upside.

with 194 Ks in 133 innings this year alone, ill disagree, but im also biased

The Giants will have one hell of a future rotation if they have the choice between Aumont and Parker.

He's good, damn good, so a number two starter certainly isn't a knock. But I don't think with two pitches and the possibility of a third one, you can be an ace. Aces for me have four pitches they can throw for strikes, while Price has only two right now and his change-up is coming along.

hmmm with regards to weathers.

Weathers to Colorado, another reach. Thank god he didnt last to the Sox, cause he is a reliever.

WEATHERS??

YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME

That is very early for weathers.

That makes 3 straight surprise picks and 2 out of 3 that I bust out laughing at (Detwiler and Weathers).

LOLZ.

There is gonna be a top ten talent on the board for the Sox at 25, guarenteed. Will the Sox take him is the question? I will guess no.
