I was looking at RottenTomatoes today to see what they said about new movies out. I read the reviews for Max Payne, which looks like its just as bad as the silly previews. This line in one review in particular cracked me up (about Max Payne):

The addition of the Valkyries looked confusing in the commercials, but it made sense in the storyline, in a way. I'm not saying it was good at all. At best, I would rate it another "meh."

Walked out of Religulous last night. That's the first time I've ever walked out. It wasn't bad, it was just my gf had a s***ty attitude going in (she claims she's religious) and I pretty much knew she wasn't going to like it or give it a chance. She got mad when he was making fun of the mormons and using the Michael Jackson example of going from black to white, and told me she would be outside. I waited a minute, but found her in the parking lot, not the lobby, and told her "I knew you'd do this" and that I didn't want to go back in there after she suggested it.

I knew I should went by myself earlier in the week but she told me to wait until Friday because she wanted to see it too.

And she's still your girlfriend?

And she's still your girlfriend?

yeah, and she says she's upset because I went back to see it today. For all the driving around I did for it (1 theatre in the area) it was pretty disapointing. It would've been much better as a 1 hour show on HBO, and really hit a wall after the long holy land segment.

Sorry if I overstep bounds, but I think this is a red flag.

She's mad at you for seeing a movie? A movie she forced you to walk out of in the first place?

This sounds like an attempt to control you.

Ya, there is no way I'd put up with that.

I just saw a preview of the movie "PUSH"

Its like "Heroes-The Movie", but it doesnt look like it sucks too bad. Stars Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning. Check youtube for the trailer

Haha Steve, that "I wouldnt put up with that" only applies to the non-married folk.

That ring on your finger says you will put up with that, and much more. ;)

You know what's really funny? I was the one who started the question about this. I'm married. And I meant it the opposite of the way all the single guys here think I meant it.

What I was saying was, if santo is telling his girlfriend that "she thinks she is religious", and giving her the "I told you so" line... I'm surprised she is still with him.

This has been a very interesting, unintentend experiment in the difference between married and single men.

Anyone see Charlie Wilson's war? Flying to the west coast tomorrow and had it queued up. My interest level is very low though. Thinking of grabbing something else instead.

Well, its not earth-shattering or anything. Don't expect 100% reality either. But its definitely a worthwhile pick for a long flight - entertaining and fun.

That's the way I took it as well...

I agree completely. You definitely won't regret watching it for the flight, but it's not like you'll want to watch it again for a while.

Now that I think of it, this is exactly the type of movie that they'll probably show on the flight tomorrow. It's never anything I'm dying to see.

It should probably be pointed out that I'm in a serious relationship and if my girlfriend was that way she wouldn't be my girlfriend. She'd say the same thing about me as well. And its not like we are the same people, we have some similar interests and some completely opposite interests but end up completing each other well.

Oh and I was taking the whole angle of knowing that your significant other wants to see something and that you oblige despite not potentially having the same interests and than walk out and drag the other out as well. There is a time and a place to suck it up.

My girlfriend may not be the biggest baseball fan in the world, but if we go to a game she's not going to get up and leave in the middle of a no-hitter and tell me I have to leave too. Just like If I'm going to an exhibit relating to her field that has zero interest to me I'm not going to go there for 5 minutes and tell her I'm bored and lets go home.
