August 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) Misty water colored memories? Weird. I never went to college, except for a year and a half of community college. Why? I was delusional and chose to spend all my time with my band, Misty Beethoven.
August 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 09:21 PM) No classes before 10:00 AM as a freshman is nearly unheard of from my experience. I didn't have a class until 12:15 on MWF my frosh year, and 11:15 on T/Thurs.
August 8, 200718 yr QUOTE(dasox24 @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) I didn't have a class until 12:15 on MWF my frosh year, and 11:15 on T/Thurs. First semester I had one class a week MWF and it was a lecture from 1-1:50. My punishment was 3 classes Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I still only started at 10.

August 8, 200718 yr Man, this brings back memories... Softest semester I ever had: Public speaking Persuasive speaking Small group communication Latin American civilization Practical Review of Spanish The last one was kind of annoying because it was at 8 in the morning and I hadn't taken Spanish in 2 years, but the rest were REALLY easy. I didn't have a single speech over 5 minutes or any papers over 5 pages. Actual speeches that I made that semester: Early Entry Eligibility of Maurice Clarett and Larry Fitzgerald And How It Will Affect the NFL A Salary Cap In Baseball: Why It's Needed And How to Do It Collegiate Athletic Spending Gone Overboard How To Shoot Pool Video Game Violence: Don't Believe Everything You Read Napster And Peer-To-Peer Music Sharing: A Brief History And Its Impact on the Music Industry The Increasing Lack of Creativity in Music, Movies, and Video Games I got kind of creative in applying the goals of some of those speeches. Hardest (last semester, remember that I was a Speech and Communcations major ): Advanced organizational communication History of rhetoric history of gender rhetoric interpersonal communication mass media and life in the home I know it sounds REALLY soft, but every one of those was very writing intensive. Every single one of them had 12-page papers for finals week and several other smaller ones. Edited August 8, 200718 yr by ZoomSlowik

I'm going into history with a teaching certification with a secondary cert in PolS/govt Heads, are news outlets now looking for jhournalism majors? Back when I wanted to be in Journalism the advice was learn something so you could cover it well. Economics, Politics, Biology, anything. Then work your ass off on any newspaper that would take you honing your writing craft.

August 9, 200718 yr QUOTE(farmteam @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 10:36 AM) History of Rock and Roll I took that class last year.. lots of fun. What years does yours cover? We had two different ones, one of which went from beginnings to 1970, and the other which went 1970 to present. I took the first one. QUOTE(Beastly @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) On Monday, Wednesday, Friday my first class starts at 9:00 and my last class ends at 3:50. On Tuesdays and Thursdays my first class starts at 8:00 and my last class goes till 4:15. So it's not that bad. It doesn't seem bad until you get there and start taking them. If you've got class non-stop on those days, it'll suck (at least, it did for me, and I only had one day where I went 9-4:30, the rest were much nicer ) QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 03:41 PM) I have no idea how you go to college and find the time to post thousands of entries on websites like this. I'm not dissing anyone, just...bewildered. It mostly involves being a slacker, plus doing many things at once. I'd like to think I've done alright so far in college (been through fall, spring, and summer semesters and have a GPA around 3.4/3.5), but I've mostly multi-tasked a s***load and got lucky with other things. August 9, 200718 yr QUOTE(farmteam @ Aug 9, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) I'm not positive, but I think it covers inception of the genre through the Beatles. Sounds about right. I think my class went from the roots of blues and such to Led Zeppelin. It was a lot of fun, but I had a really, really good teacher (took another class with him in the following semester).
August 9, 200718 yr I was thinking of actually trying college out this comming January (next year) but looking at some of these classes and knowing why school isn't for everybody, presents an intimidation factor. Ima still register though. Gotta find my future wife sometime.
