Seems like Carlos Lee and GEOFF BLUM themselves beat the Cubbies today.

Wouldn't be the first time for Carlos

Mike Caruso signed with the Joliet JackHammers yesterday. I guess I'll have to go up to to Gary when they are in town :P

Hard to believe it wasn't that long ago when he was 3rd in the Rookie of the Year voting.

Didn't/doesn't he have cocaine problems?

Anyways, Kalapse should be thrilled by this news.

The OC/Garland trade is looking good for both clubs. Garland hasn't lost a game against an AL opponent since April 28th. However, the Angels are losing today despite another good start from Jon.

I still hope the Sox can get more production out of Count for the rest of the season, move him for some prospects and ink Garland to a deal (Garland/Buehrle/Vaz/Danks/Floyd is a nice rotation which should give tons of innings and get tons of quality starts). It also allows the Sox to wait for a top notch pitching prospect to come around and insert into the rotation (as well as move some of the other pitching prospects for younger position players).

During the rain delay yesterday seen Garland on Bernie Mack.I didnt know he would do something like that being soft spoken like he is.He was pretty good.

Jamie Burke pitched an inning today against the Tigers. However, in the 15th inning, he gave up a double to M. Cabrera, threw a wild pitch, then allowed Miggy to score on a sac fly and got the loss.

No love for Carlos Lee, I guess.

He and Ozzie didn't get along, at all. Many believe Ozzie's quote, which was something to the extent of "we've got guys sliding into 2nd like their mother is playing there" was referring to Lee. In fact, some believe part of the reason we got so little for Lee (although it obviously worked out great in 2005 of course) was Ozzie basically told KW that he had to go. On the other hand, Aaron Rowand is one of the most beloved players in team history by both the fans and organization.

Olivo and Gload starting for KC tonight against the Sox.

well, according to some, the fact that Aaron Rowand was not on the Sox in 2006 was the reason the team lost the division. It had nothing to do with a broken down pitching staff, a mediocre bullpen, a terrible bench, or that Rob Mackowiak played a third of the team's games in CF.

On baseball tonight a few weeks back they were talking about clubhouse leaders and I guess the Giants were raving about how great a leader Rowand has been. One player even said that had he been on the Mets they would be in first right now. Mind you this was a few weeks ago when the Mets were looking like a lost team.

Well bad CF defense (when Rob played) and bad CF offense (when BA played) lost us several games during 2006 and played an important role in our demise. However, the fact we finished 10th in the AL in ERA, and also saw our all world offense regress significantly the last two months played a bigger role in our fall, as did the rise of the Twins and Tigers who also deserved credit that year.

Brandon McCarthy had his first rehab start tonight for the Oklahoma Redhawks against Salt Lake tonight. He had a rough first inning, but looked awesome after that. Changeup was working really well as his main pitch, and his curveball looked great at times. His fastball touched 90 a couple of times, but sat at 89 for the most part.

I believe Matt Ginter started for the Indians last night. His last name was Ginter and he looked like him.

yep, Matt Ginter is on the Indians

Good for Brandon. Glad to see he is back, and that we don't have to face him.

was just checking Willie Harris's numbers this year and I noticed he started his first game at 2B since '05 earlier this year. He is up to .257 and has a whopping 7 HRs.

Ray Ray Durham making his 1st start for his new team ( Brewers) against the Cards today. So far he's 0-4 with the Brewers behind in the 7th 3-2.

Damaso Marte is now a Yankee.

And he's about 15 minutes from a mental breakdown. He couldn't handle pressure in Chicago.

I got to see Rob Mackowiak play for the Louisville Bats last week. Ehren Wassermann walked him intentionally with 1st base open. I was hoping to see Jon Adkins (18 saves) pitch.
