April 28, 200817 yr QUOTE (joeynach @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 03:14 PM) http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/news/probab...rs.jsp?c_id=min Why is Masset scheduled to start on Wednesday? Has anyone else heard this information from a sox related source? It says why in the link you posted.
April 28, 200817 yr Probably because of the double header on Saturday...either we needed an extra pitcher or one of Danks/Buehrle was going to have to go on 3 days rest. Throwing Masset in as a starter for a game seems like a better option than pushing one of those 2 this earlhy.
April 28, 200817 yr They don't want Danks or Buehrle to have to pitch on 3-days rest. Friday's rainout forced that situation. Ha... you put it up there while I was still typing Balta. edit: here's some additional info from whitesox.com... The other starting options for the White Sox on Wednesday would have been working John Danks or Mark Buehrle on three days' rest. Both pitchers worked in Saturday's split twinbill, but Guillen opted against using either one after a shorter break than normal. "One [has been] overused for all these years, and one is too young," said Guillen of Buehrle and Danks. "I can't take any chances. We can't take that risk. "If this game was in September, or we were in the pennant race late in the season ... we'd think about it. Right now, it's too early to make those crazy decisions." April 29, 200817 yr When is the last time Broadway made a start? I see no reason to have Masset start ahead of him.
April 29, 200817 yr QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 09:00 PM) When is the last time Broadway made a start? I see no reason to have Masset start ahead of him. You mean, other than the fact that Masset is already in the majors, and that for Broadway to start, he'd have to be called up and someone else would have to be sent down.

How many days does a player have to be sent down before he can come back up? I believe Broadway should be on the team anyway, so I would have no problem with Masset being sent down, even though he would probably be claimed on waivers.
April 29, 200817 yr QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 08:51 PM) We could just put him in Toby Hall's uni? I wouldn't do that...Ozzie might put him at first by mistake.

April 29, 200817 yr See. Broadway should have been called up for MacDougal, then sent down for Wassermann tomorrow.
April 30, 200817 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 06:40 PM) See. Broadway should have been called up for MacDougal, then sent down for Wassermann tomorrow. That seems logical and would've been pleasurable to watch Broadway play, but it seems logic and pleasure don't mix with the Sox thinking sometimes.
April 30, 200817 yr I hope starting Masset isn't just conceding a game to the Twinks. Going 0-2 at Minnesota is not a sign of a contending team.
April 30, 200817 yr Sounds like there's going to be a crazy lineup tomorrow, as PK will get the day off, Hall will be catching, and OC might be on the bench. Can we pray for a rain out?

April 30, 200817 yr I love Oz, but it seems he's really concerned with resting players. Now that our ss finally got 2 hits in a game, he better not rest amorrow.
April 30, 200817 yr The Trib article (I have the hard copy, no link) says that OC WAS going to get a day off, until PK got hurt, so now he will play. Masset did well in his one spot start last year. Hopefully he can do well with it today, because the offense is overall pretty cold right now.

April 30, 200817 yr QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 30, 2008 -> 08:19 AM) Huh? What happened to Konerko? Nothing serious. Got jammed on a pitch and hurt his hand, but it sounds like something very minor.
April 30, 200817 yr QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 09:58 PM) so I would have no problem with Masset being sent down i beg to differ

April 30, 200817 yr Not a stellar start from Nick. Lasted 4 innings, but didn't get any help from the offense.
April 30, 200817 yr How many times does it seem like the Sox get shut down when some other team pitches some guy you've never heard of? Seems like a lot. Then we go with Masset. You think we'd get a good outing? How about four innings, five hits, three walks. Not great.
