Taking Floyd out was obvious. The no hitter was gone, he didn't have a shutout, he was over 100 pitches, it was a big lead, he has never thrown a ton of innings in a season, and Jenks needed work badly. That was an obvious and correct move.

Well, Anderson is faster than Swisher but that's not really why he's a better CF. He gets better jumps on all the fly balls so he is either camped under the difficult ones or he's making a running grab on something other CFs have to dive for. So because he isn't flashy about it he never makes highlight reels.

 

I think he would've gotten to that ball but it's a moot point considering I'm all into baseball superstitions and whatnot.

Because its a baseball no-no to change the defense when theres a no-hitter in the 9th like that. You just dont change the team on the field. Pretty basic baseball concept.

Anyway, congrats to Floyd. Coop has done a great job of tapping this kid's potential.

I wouldn't have been angry at Ozzie if he did leave him in, but I pretty much agree with you guys for the above reasons. Complete games are nice, but not nearly on the level of no-hitters. Plus, you've got to be careful with young arms.

Swisher is not a hack in cf. It would have been a big slap to the face of our supposed morale-boosting team leader (Swisher) to yank him in the ninth of the no-no. Like Fathom said, he's not a horrible outfielder. Not that I'm a huge Swisher fan (he's now hitting .196 to Uribe's .195, Thome's .209, Cabrera's .214) but it would have been a huge slap in the face to a guy who is supposed to be one of the key team leaders. This is (another) non issue.

Meaning his range exceeds that of Swisher's by at least a couple of steps... in which case what you said is true.
