Volquez wasn't an absolute blue chip talent though...it was quite the risk for Cincy. Volquez has always had a big reputation, but with his advanced age, it's not like he was a Kershaw or Jay Bruce.

Volquez I thought would for sure be very good with Cincy, he was just badly mismanaged by the Rangers (big shocker there).

You don't trade Volquez period, even if you have 4 other great starters, his stuff is just phenominal.

Remember when we crushed him in 2005, second game of a doubleheader? Dye hit some bombs off of him, and McCarthy was great.

yeah exactly....volquez was considered a bit of a disappointment by texas...i guess they kept the wrong one of the DVD trio and gave up too early on the other two

Speaking of cases where fans got what they asked for ie somebody not traded, and now I say be careful what you ask for.

FYI, we are hitting .182 with RISP and 2 out. Twins are 1st at .315, Angels 2nd at .310.

Right, but it's all the more pathetic when you have barely any pitching talent in your organization. Texas is without question the dumbest baseball franchise of my lifetime.

At least it's fun to watch Lance Berkman bat.

Remember how KW was holding out to get Hunter Pence, along with Hirsh, Taveras, and Bucholz?

2008 White Sox Baseball...We Can't Pitch Over Any Mistake......EVER!!!!

The fact Joe Crede and Mark Buehrle are still on this team proves:

1. The fans can be pretty dumb.

2. Our GM generally is pretty dumb.

3. We like to keep players long past their peak value on the trade market.

4. All of the above.

The ace of the staff is supposed to pick up his teammates there

Hindsight is 20/20. Texas soured on Volquez from what I understand. Cincy thought they sold high on him, everyone else laughed. Now, Volquez looks like a stud, but so does Hamilton.

Optimism... STRETCH STRETCH STRETCH... it gone.

I officially hate this team again. Let's clean house and get some young players in here. It seems to be working well for the A's, D Backs, Rays, and Marlins and we have some good young talent on our bench and in the minors.

I love pitching to Vlad here with the open base....good baseball!
