Mean Joe Crede

Sam Smith on CTL advocated releasing Crede when no deal was reachable

Then again, he knows less about baseball than his main sport, if that's somehow even possible.

It interesting because EVERY quote I have heard from the players, coaches, and management have all said that Walker isn't the problem. Even guys like Konerko have talked about how valuable Walker is to them. Its people on the outside who are blaming Walk.

Thats not really fair to say. Whenever a manager or hitting coach/pitching coach gets fired 9 times out of 10 the players will say it wasnt their fault. Obviously these guys have built up a good relationship with Walker over the years and are going to stick behind him no matter what. Im not saying we need to fire Walker but if this offense burst turns to be a fluke and we go back to one of the worse offenses in baseball... someone needs to be blamed.

I'd still rather have Fields, but his suckage at AAA this year is a bit worrisome.

Fields is just a backup plan for this season with the way Crede is playing.

That said, your characterization of his season is unfair. He's raking so far in June and his OPS for the season is .846. He started slowly in Charlotte last year, too.

I heard it was actually Ray Durham in 1999.

Anyways, just for snorts and giggles, Crede is on pace for 37 homers and 104 RBI.

This is from the Sox website ..."The third baseman is the first White Sox player to hit two home runs in back-to-back games since his predecessor, Greg Norton, did it on May 27-28, 1999, against Detroit."

I would trade Fields at the deadline in a package for our greatest need, make a run for the championship and sign Crede longterm. Seriesly.

The fans need to b**** about something.

Not unless somehow God touched the heart of Scott Boras, made his heart grow 3 sizes that day, and convinced Joe to be extended first.

Every Who

Down in Who-ville

Liked Christmas a lot...

But the Grinch,

Who lived just north of Who-ville,

Did NOT!

The Grinch hated Christmas! The Whole Christmas season!

Now, please don't ask why. No one quite knows the reason.

It could be his head wasn't screwed on just right.

It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight.

But I think that the most likely reason of all

May have been that his heart was two sizes too small.

Oops, they said it was Ray in the post game show on CSN yesterday...

With all due respect, anybody who would rather have Fields than Joe in the lineup THIS SEASON, considering the on-field results needs his/her head examined.

Crede's numbers have been great, especially considering he's coming off MAJOR back surgery.

I mean I know a guy that uses a cane because his doctor botched a similar surgery.

I like Josh Fields; I couldn't believe there was no spot for him on the roster this year ... but Joe Crede is a great baseball player.

He should be like Buehrle and simply want to stay with the White Sox and tell his agent to give us a hometown discount.

If and this is a big IF Joe gives us a hometown discount and he is somehow extended what happens to fields? Do they ask him to change his position or is he moved?

I honestly would love it but don't see Joe back in a Sox uniform next year....I have never been that high on Fields like a lot of people here and would rather have a proven hitter/defender at 3b. I don't think last season proved Fields of anything.....

Big if there but I'd think either he'd be moved to try and give us some veteran help somewhere now or this'll be either Pauly or Thome's last season in a White Sox uni and Fields will take over one of their spots.

Joe probably won't be back, but I still don't understand why he can't pull a Buehrle and simply tell his agent he wants to stay.

I know ... money.

But you would think our offer would be in the same ballpark as others.

He still will be a "risk" because of his back and the fact he's now 30.

I guess the Angels could offer him a ton more than the Sox.

Who else desperately has wanted Joe in the past?

Yankees don't need him; Mets don't need him; Red Sox don't need him.

I love Joe as both a person and a player. Personally I think he is a very underrated player who has been robbed many times of his career of desrving honors, the joke excuse of the All Star game in 2006, a Gold Glove atleast once, the AL series MVP award in 2005 (possibly even the World series MVP). I want so much for there to be some way for him to stay.

I want him to be a White Sox for life.

Hometown discounts don't exist when you're agent is Scott Boras. Stop kidding yourselves.

great thread, I love joe crede

If Crede is no longer a White Sox because of Boras I will personally hunt him down, LOL!

I am sure that if you could get Crede to sign a good deal (4 years or less) and stay with the Sox, that most people here would be happy to keep him around. Its just that, the chances of that are about 1 in 100.

So you're saying there's a chance...

Assuming that Joe stays healthy for the remainder of the season and hits around .270-.280 with 25-30 HRs, he's looking at about $70 million on the FA market this winter. Given Joe's recent back problems and his age, and with Fields at their disposal, I don't see Kenny paying him. As for the "hometown discount", Joe being a Boras client strongly suggests that he's after as much money as he can get. And since this is the one and only time that he'll be getting a big contract, it's highly unlikely that he'll stay in Chicago for 4/55 or whatever.

Crede is such a good person. If he wasnt brainwashed by the horrible Boras I am sure he would take a hometown discount, as long as it wasnt too unreasonable.
