I think I want to just lock this thread on principle.

Yes, please lock it.

A Jenks save in game 7 would be priceless.

A blowout in game 4 to end a sweep would be even better

LALALALALALALALALALALALALA NOT LISTENING LALALALALALALALALALALALA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have thought about it many times before and came to the conclusion no matter what the outcome it wouldnt be good for my health.

It would be nice if we could make it throught the Crosstown series's before we started talking about this?

I don't ever want to see the Cubs in the Series in my life-time.................EVER

all i'm saying is that i think the entire city would spontaneously combust were this to happen.

I wonder how much different it would be then the Subway series in 2000 or whenever that was? Its easy to say living in Chicago but I think the Cubs/Sox rivalry is bigger than the Yankees and Mets. Especially because most Yankee fans probably use most of their hate on the Red Sox.

exactly. yeah i completely agree. i think it's a lot worse here.

the whole week and a half of the series you would not want to be near me. if it turns out the wrong way, i might really have some issues.

I would rather see a White Sox vs. Nationals world series.

Oooh, just think of the historic aspect of that matchup.

I would rather see the White Sox winning another world series.

fixed!

As long as we won it, I would be happy. If the Cubs did, their fans would never leave it alone. And I doubt there would ever be a rematch in my lifetime seeing as the Cubs are good at sucking. So if the Sox won I could handle this. I'm glad I live a good 1200 miles from Chicago though, that atmosphere would be tense.

Its been interesting to see this rivalry become much more heated in recent years. Time was, 20 years ago, that the rivalry was barely there. More amusement about each other than anything else. But with interleague play since '97, the Sox championship in 2005, and fan bases much more hungry for winning (and spoiled) than they were before, its gained a new level of intensity. For 24 years, from 1959 to 1983, the city of Chicago didn't know October baseball. Winning was an oddity. In the 24 years since, Chicago has seen 9 post-season berths. Expectations are higher. And you can see it in the fans.

...not a sox fan here, but no fair-weathered cheerleadin' a$$clown either. I don't believe in the Cubs doing $h!t till it actually happens.

What I'm sayin' is if this actually happened - no worries.

You could count on the sox sending the Cubs home with their tails between their legs just like in '06.

Well put, NSS.

Those games would give me a heart attack, guaranteed.

Ditto. I think I might actually off myself if we lost a World Series to the Cubs. No joke. I couldn't take the humiliation.

If it's ever going to happen, it'll be this year.

Personally, I couldn't care less who made it from the NL if the Sox were in. If I had to choose though, I think I'd pick the Cubs at this point. I think it'd be fun as hell. Just imagine going to a Sox-Cubs World Series game, you'd need the whole Chicago Police department there.

I think this year's Sox-Cub series will tell us a lot about the Sox.

The games are rare regular season games that will have playoffs/WS intensity, though

the Cubs don't know what WS intensity is.

With the first games in Wrigley, we're going to be challenged.

Hope our pitchers avoid the gopher ball and our big guys hit a batch of homers.
