They have the wrong QB for that offense. Threet is so slow.

 

I didn't get to watch the game cuz of work but thought Michigan would lose by more.

 

As a fellow Michigan fan overall it was painful to watch. The second and third quarters were miserable, until they started the comeback. Then they had 2 chances to have a game winning drive happen, and they went 3 and out both times.

So UNC was to have a flyover before the game and a parachuter drop in to bring the game ball. The plane never showed up, and later UNC learned that the plane mistakenly flew over Dukes stadium instead and dropped in with UNC parachutes and gameball to the Duke-James Madison game. Nice.

This is why the SEC is so much better than everyone else. They have so many elite coaches in that conference its not even funny. Clemson has talent but Alabama is so prepared and basically shut down Clemson.

 

 

Look at how many coaches in the SEC have national title rings.

Then you add Richt, Tuberville, Petrino, Nutt. Unbelievable.

Exactly. The coaching in the SEC is just unreal. When Steve Spurrier is probably considered the 5th or 6th best coach in the conference, you know the caliber of coaching is ridiculous.

It'd be neat to beat you guys. Jack Trice does weird things to Mizzou.

 

I'm not jaded enough to think we have evenn a quarter of the talent that you guys do, but I'd like to think this worlds just crazy enough for me to be able to throw s*** at dan.

I'm still bitter over the last game there. That just sucked. If Mizzou loses in Iowa State this year I'll streak all the way to Ames and you can slap my bare balls. It's not gonna happen.

 

for all that talent, I don't think we've ever had a recruiting class as high as some of yours the past years. Just a great coach who finds players who work in his system. Derrick Washington is going to be reeeallly good this year, however. And Weatherspoon and Willy Moore are just fantastic players.

Yeah, the recruits weren't too highly rated, but a few were (Maclin, Daniel other than his height). The current freshman class was the best rated Mizzou has pulled in a long, long time. Should be fun to see those guys develop. Hopefully the good classes keep coming in and Mizzou can be a consistent 8-9 win team for a while. That would be more surprising than this 2-year stretch (assuming this year goes decently).

 

Also, someone said something about Maclin being a sophomore. He redshirted his first year on campus due to an ACL tear so he is draft eligible by the year's end. I kinda want to see him leave because I think it would be the best move for him (considering the injury past) and I would hate to see him on a mediocre team. Besides, I'm graduating so I won't care as much lol. With Coffman, Moore, Daniel and a lot others gonna be gone, even with decent classes, they might only push 8 wins. Not that that is bad by any stretch for Mizzou, but Maclin's legend deserves better if that makes sense.

 

It was a pretty crazy game to be at, despite the dome sucking ass. The atmosphere was better in the bathroom heh. Awesome tailgating before the game outside. Last year was nothing, this was really cool. Easy to get excited for the rest of the year after that.

Yeah but Chase Patton was actually higher rated than Daniel. In fact, I feel we have some of the best depth at QB now of any team. NOt of all teams, but of a lot of them, considering we have chase Patton and Blaine Gabbert.

 

I don't even know how big a drop off there will be, but I hope that Maclin stays at Mizzou. This football team has made it such a wonderful time these past 2 years, I hope it never ends.

Obligatory post about Minnesota beating NIU, 31-27. Our defense still sucks and can't tackle, but at least the Weber/Decker combo looks awesome.

As for Mizzou, they are going to be 12-0 heading to the Big 12 title game if they win in Austin. Nobody else on that regular season schedule is capable of beating them. They'll have problems with Texas Tech or especially Oklahoma if they see them in the championship game of the league though.

Yep, that's basically about how I feel about this team. We aren't great, but we're going to be amazing in comparison to last years team.

Fantastic Tenn/UCLA game to cap off the week.

 

Tenn kicker chokes it from 34 out in OT to give UCLA the win.

 

This coming after a furious final few minutes of the game that saw Tenn take the lead on a TD, UCLA take it back on a TD with less than :30 left, and Tenn rallying to tie it on a FG as time expired.

 

Craft throws 4 picks in the first half and then has a great 2nd half.

Tennessee lost it. f*** those damn refs and their bulls*** calls and terrible spots all game. How the f*** that wasn't a safety in the 3rd quarter still has me confused. The guy's entire body was in the endzone. The ball, if anything, was on the goal line, not passed it. Then, they gave them an extra foot on the spot of the ball, though we really f***ed ourselves with penalties.

Tennessee just isn't that good. Their offense is piss poor. Tennessee obviously had opportunities, but the Vols didn't put away a team with no offense in the first half.

College football week 1 is fun because you have the sport back, but it's hard to watch. The games are generally ugly because the teams play no preseason games and are rusty, and most major schools play mediocre (if not 1-AA) opponents because they know they'll be rusty with no preseason action. Even a game between two major programs like Tennessee/UCLA was VERY ugly, despite the fact it was close and had a great ending.

Miami is getting 23 at Florida on Saturday night. I'm not much the betting man, but I would strongly suggest that if you are, take the Hurricanes at the window and enjoy the free money. Too much pride, especially in an in-state game like, for Miami to lose by more than three touchdowns.

Hey zenryan, you're a pretty big Miami fan, right? What do you think about Cannon Smith? He was sort of a friend of mine freshman year of high school, so I'm just curious what you think about him... He was awful in high school, but it seems like he's grown some and has actually improved a bit. He definitely has character issues, though, with his DUI/possession of ecstasy charge a couple years ago, and the fact that he attended 4 different schools before getting into Miami.
