That guy only hits against us.

If we have Linebrink, then we don't see Dotel in this game and we're probably handing the game over to Jenks with a two-run lead.

I just don't think we can get to the playoffs without a healthy Scott.

Dotel's just too shaky.

Offense needs to pick him up right here.

We have about as dumb a team as there is in baseball. That has to be the explination, because we turn more easy wins into close wins and close wins into losses than any team I've seen this season.

Oh well, let's just go deep here. Break their hearts again.

is there any word on Linebrink, is he done for the season, man can we use him about now?!

just to anger you all a little bit more....

2. Cust's strange numbers

Hitters who strike out a lot tend to chase bad pitches, often breaking balls. Jack Cust is the exception. He leads the AL in strikeouts, yet has chased the lowest percentage of breaking pitches in the majors. This is just one of the statistical oddities associated with the Oakland slugger:

• His 68 percent strikeout rate on at-bats ending on curveballs and sliders leads the AL.

• Cust has missed on 43 percent of swung-on breaking pitches in the strike zone, most in the majors. His miss percentage against lefties is off the charts. He's missed on 72 percent of swings on breaking pitches from left-handers, far above the 29 percent league average.

• Despite these negative trends, Cust has the lowest chase percentage against breaking balls in the league. His 11 percent chase rate is less than half the 28 percent league average.

Cust crushes fastballs. He's slugged .648 on fastballs since 2007. Interestingly, he's gone from being a high fastball hitter last season to preferring the hard stuff down around the knees this year:

Cust SLG vs. fastballs

Location 2007 2008

Middle/up .822 .448

Down .273 1.021

White Sox starter Javier Vazquez could give Cust fits on Thursday. Vazquez has thrown curves or sliders on 31 percent of his pitches this season, so Cust is sure to see plenty of breaking stuff.

Yep, leave in the fastball pitcher to bat against the fastball hitter. Boone Logan's fall from grace really hurts there.

It shouldn't . Ramirez is lefty isn't he ?

FWIW, Dotel's ERA on the road is now around 5

Why is Ramirez even warming up then?

Ramirez should have been in the game to face Gonzalez and Cust. I was saying that before long before the HR.

Ramirez was warmed and ready and should have come in to face Cust.

The scary thing is Griffey pinch hitting for Anderson and playing center if it goes extras.

Man this team misses Linebrink.

So who does this fall on...Coop, AJ or Dotel. Obviously Dotel served up the meatball...but goddamn guys...have a clue.

just got home, was listening to the game on the score with mcdowell filling in for stoney

this is gonna hurt if we lose, i have to say, we basically gave this game away with the error and the longballs by Dotel...

At least we have a chance against Street.

They need to hunt down that fan with the f***ing whistle.

Ozzie for not bringing in Ramirez.

We don't usually hit Street too hard. He throws junk out of the zone (well, all he can throw is junk, his arm is shot) and we swing at it.

Just like that one to Swish.

He's been getting rocked lately, which means we'll go down 1-2-3 against him.

do we? seems like we can never even come close to touching this guy....probably because he almost exclusively throws junk low and away

Have we EVER hit Street? It seems like I remember a 1-2-3 inning pretty much every time. All he ever does is throw sliders off the outside corner we flail at.

We never hit Street.

Uribe shouldn't be batting against Street. It would be a good situation for Griffey Jr.

Street has a lifetime ERA of 3 against us. I'm shocked it's that high, the only times I can even think of us scoring against him were a couple of home runs.

Good AB Alexei.

Alexei hits Street. FACT.
