Al Lopez's Ghost
It sounds to me as if someone from Crede's side went to the Sox (KW?) and complained about Ozzie's prior remarks. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...1,2233865.story
The Critic
Ozzie should ease Joe back in while still playing Juan at 3B a few times a week. Juan's earned his playing time, and Joe's back is made of glass and balsa wood.
Kyyle23
Of course Ozzie is going to play Crede if healthy. The key words are "if healthy", which Crede has not been. It would be nice to get a boost from Crede at the end of the year playing for a contract
Milkman delivers
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 10:33 AM) Of course Ozzie is going to play Crede if healthy. The key words are "if healthy", which Crede has not been. It would be nice to get a boost from Crede at the end of the year playing for a contract The bad thing is that Crede will definitely get starts when he returns to try to prove that he is healthy. He, of course, will not be healthy and will likely hurt the team during a crucial time of the year. So, those obligatory few games where we "have" to give him a chance, before we decide he's not our best option and still clearly injured, will end up being negative for the team. Possibly, but hopefully, we catch lightening in a bottle and he is on fire for a month and a half.
South Side Fireworks Man
Uribe lost his starting job to Ramirez when Juan was injured and Alexei played well. Now Uribe has earned the starting 3B job playing for the injured Crede. Juan should remain the starting 3Bman as long as he continues to play well. WCSox
Given that Juan has been better defensively than Joe this year and that he's actually hitting right now, I completely understand why Ozzie isn't in a hurry to get Joe back into the lineup. I agree, Uribe has been doing great at 3B (both offensively and defensively). I say keep him there as long as he keeps it up.
Harry Chappas
Anyone else completly done with Orlando Cabrerra? I would like to see Ramirez lead-off, I know it is not ideal but whatever and see Uribe back at short IF Crede is healthy and by healthy I mean he better be liting it up at AAA. I hate Orlando Cabrera and think he is the biggest piece of s*** player I can remember.
Kalapse
At this point in time is Joe Crede even capable of outproducing this latest incarnation of Juan Uribe? Coming into today Juan Uribe was sporting a line of .302/.365/.488/.853 w/ 2 HR, 9:22 BB:K since taking over at 3B for Crede. Given the vast difference between the 2 defensively and Juan's ability to run even a little and play some "smallball" on occasion I'm not sure Joe Crede can outproduce him. (and no I don't believe a setback riddled rehab stint will magically fix Joe Crede's defense)
Brian
I didn't think Ozzie needed to clarify anything. Crede's defense has been below average and has been inconsistent with the stick. He should have to earn his spot back. I can't believe Juan has his BA up to around .240.
southsider2k5
The writing is on the wall... Wise is going on the DL, and Crede is coming back to Chicago.
Wanne
QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 05:33 PM) I didn't think Ozzie needed to clarify anything. Crede's defense has been below average and has been inconsistent with the stick. He should have to earn his spot back. I can't believe Juan has his BA up to around .240. I didn't think he needed to either. Juan's doing a great job...leave him there. Even with some of Joe's errors which came on seemingly easy plays...he has made some incredible plays that save some games there. He was just turning into Mr. Automatic out there for a while. He shouldn't be given the job back on name alone.
