November 3, 200817 yr QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) I think that is just called home court advantage. There was some study somewhere that showed that it provided the biggest home court advantage in the nation when you compare road with home performance.
November 4, 200817 yr QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 03:03 PM) There was some study somewhere that showed that it provided the biggest home court advantage in the nation when you compare road with home performance. So they won a game at home? That's great, but it requires you to blow dick on the road, or you aren't really in contention for that. Edited November 4, 200817 yr by IlliniKrush
November 4, 200817 yr QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 10:47 PM) So they won a game at home? That's great, but it requires you to blow dick on the road, or you aren't really in contention for that. They typically do blow dick on the road. There's a reason it's always among the top home courts in America.
November 4, 200817 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) Just fun being back at the arena yesterday. I missed that. Agreed. I'm glad it's college basketball season again
November 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (Heads22 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 08:44 AM) They typically do blow dick on the road. There's a reason it's always among the top home courts in America. I think you missed the point.
November 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 06:38 PM) I think you missed the point. I also believe every Big 12 team has a losing record in Hilton. That might have changed with Kansas in the last year though.
November 6, 200817 yr I've just about always considered Iowa State's home court advantage as borderline 8th wonder of the world material with as many superior teams as I've seen lose in that building to the Cyclones. Edited November 6, 200817 yr by whitesoxfan101
November 6, 200817 yr I'm cautiously optimistic about Illinois this year. I don't have near the worries about the front court that I once held.
November 6, 200817 yr I'm excited to see how well Harangody, Hillesland, McAlarney and Jackson will do with the Irish this year. The best part? Jackson and Harangody will return in 2009-10 with more quality freshmen recruits and Ben Hansbrough.
November 7, 200817 yr Crap, it looks like another long year for NU basketball. They just lost an exhibition game to Robert Morris College. <_>
November 7, 200817 yr But Robert Morris has DeAndre Thomas! ... ... Yeah, I guess that doesn't mean much.
November 8, 200817 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 03:30 PM) I'm excited to see how well Harangody, Hillesland, McAlarney and Jackson will do with the Irish this year. The best part? Jackson and Harangody will return in 2009-10 with more quality freshmen recruits and Ben Hansbrough. They'll win a ton of games (even in the mighty Big East) due to the offensive firepower, but unless their defense made some drastic improvements, I can't see them going too far in March. They are like the Phoenix Suns circa 2006 of the NCAA right now.
November 10, 200817 yr Author Will we really see lower scores because of the deeper 3 point line? I don't think so.
November 10, 200817 yr QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 09:46 PM) 46 hours. God i cannot wait! Go Dawgs!
November 10, 200817 yr QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 06:14 PM) Will we really see lower scores because of the deeper 3 point line? I don't think so. Earlier in the season I think you will just because people are so used to the old line and won't think to be the extra 9 inches or so back. I was at the NIU exhibition game yesterday and I can think of 3 or 4 two pointers that were three's last year. As the season goes on though, and once you get into league play, I doubt it makes a big difference.

November 12, 200817 yr Author QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 06:58 PM) What are the chances SIU beats UMASS? 75%? That's not tonight though.
November 12, 200817 yr QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 12, 2008 -> 01:00 AM) 75%? That's not tonight though. I figured it was inevitable but SIU is struggling mightily right now.
November 12, 200817 yr Author QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) I figured it was inevitable but SIU is struggling mightily right now. The first 10 minutes they seemed shaken before settling down. Hopefully we blow em out in the 2nd half. Definitely not encouraging.
November 12, 200817 yr Author Ok, 50/50 we beat UMASS. We turn the ball over a LOT! Also miss a lot of shots.
