Konerko, Thome or Dye all should have been traded instead of Swisher

Thank god Swish is gone, is all I'm gonna say.

i'm sad because it was beautiful to watch swish play 1B after 30 straight years of butchers.

It seems like there is more to this perhaps. As good as it looked like Swish was for the clubhouse on the surface, maybe the people in there grew tired of his act? Certainly possible.

This was a baseball decision, Swisher didn't perform so we dumped him. There is no reason to believe Swisher pissed anyone in the organization off with anything other than his play.

I think this is in part a salary dump. KW will be taking on some salary soon. Almost a Carlos Lee/Pods deal, the difference being Lee actually could hit.

Whats semi ironic about all this is Williams is usually on the other end of these trades, buying low on a player that has fallen out of favor.....

 

Betemit could be considered that. Former top prospect with still some mega potential. Only problem is that it's been awhile since he's been good, and I don't see Walk fixing him.

I got tired of Swisher's backwards Ks. I'm sure there are more dominos to fall that will make sense out of this.

Walker wont do s*** for Betemit. It's all about the launching pad we play in.

The kid had massive pop, and has a very decent glove. What we might be seeing is a platoon at both 2B, and 3b, with whoever’s left out on any given day becoming the utility guy.

I think MLB is forcing us to keep walker to balance out coop.

he just did. Marquez was a very highly touted pitcher for the Yanks who really has just had a bit of injury trouble. He is a very good "Coop fixed him" candidate to possibly fit in the rotation which is getting younger.

Nunez's numbers this past season didn't seem to hot when he was a SP in Washington's farm, but as a reliever he seemed to do alright (although it was only 27 innings and the WHIP in AA for the Nats).

Swish in New York and with the Yankees is such a bad fit though. His act seems like a bad fit for New York AND the Yankees clubhouse, plus his best quality is his ability to walk and pitchers are going to try to avoid walking him at all costs considering the talent around him in that lineup and where he will hit in it. Maybe he will find Giambi's HGH stache.

Personally, I want to see Betemit at 3B full-time, and Fields used to acquire Roberts. That is my ideal process. I trust Betemit's ability to hit Major League pitching, and believe it or not, Betemit is just a year older than Josh.

This seems like a case of KW cutting his losses. The sox must think Swisher isn't going to rebound to hit like he did in Oakland. Hopefully, the players turn out and help the sox. But it's early to tell. Betemit seems like a decent option at 3b. I don't know much about his glove, which the sox need. That may make Fields expendable.

I feel confident in saying that would be the weakest corner infield in the game and possibly one of the worst of all time.

we might get a total of 40 HR's from our entire IF if that were the case. it would be comical.

The good news is that Betemit on a very similar offensive career path to Crede. In fact, his defense might be a bit better. The kid can handle every position on the field barring C, P, and CF.

Can free agents be signed yet?
