December 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (heirdog @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 01:33 PM) Brian Roberts + single A pitcher for Fields, Poreda, Shelby and Anderson. Does Brian Roberts really cost that much?
December 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 11:55 AM) Does Brian Roberts really cost that much? If he cost less than that he would have been traded already.
December 5, 200817 yr The Orioles would surely like a middle infielder as well, and the Sox have a glut of them at this point, even if some or most of them aren't good. One of them would go to Baltimore as well.
December 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 02:20 PM) The Orioles would surely like a middle infielder as well, and the Sox have a glut of them at this point, even if some or most of them aren't good. One of them would go to Baltimore as well. The O's would most likely counter with a Alexei+Poreda offer which KW would probably decline.
December 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) The O's would most likely counter with a Alexei+Poreda offer which KW would probably decline. I wouldn't even include the word probably in there.
December 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) I wouldn't even include the word probably in there. Right, edit that out will ya. But people need to realize thats why Roberts wasnt traded last season and probably wont this season. The Cubs offer last season was probably better than the stuff mentioned on here so far this offseason, and the Cubs werent really that close. A similar package that was offered up for Roberts bought the Cubs Rich Harden. The O's undoubtedly would ask for Alexei in any deal for Roberts at which point their conversation is over.

Which is funny, because unless the Orioles resign him, which is certainly a possibility, they'll get two draft picks for him. The fact of the matter is though that he's one of the best 2Bman in the game, Angelo knows that, and they're going to get top notch value for him if they does deal him.
December 5, 200817 yr Jenks and a lower level prospect to the Brewers for Carlos Villanueva and Lorenzo Cain Then Konerko to the Giants or A's and Dye for starting pitching prospects
December 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) Jenks and a lower level prospect to the Brewers for Carlos Villanueva and Lorenzo Cain Holy hell that would be a bad trade.
December 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 07:03 AM) KW's idea of a 1 or 2 is different than most people's idea. He'll take 1 or 2 potential. Last year he called Floyd and Danks 1 and 2...and everyone laughed. I didn't.
December 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (MAX @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 03:18 PM) I didn't. hell some people were ready to quit the board over it...
December 5, 200817 yr It was pretty ridiculous. I defended that statement like 10 times before giving up. I think most people read into it too much or took it out of context.
December 5, 200817 yr Author QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 02:52 PM) Jenks and a lower level prospect to the Brewers for Carlos Villanueva and Lorenzo Cain Then Konerko to the Giants or A's and Dye for starting pitching prospects I'd rather have Charlie Villanueva. Bulls need that post up offense and Skiles doesn't seem to want to use it.
December 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) I'd rather have Charlie Villanueva. Bulls need that post up offense and Skiles doesn't seem to want to use it. He's too tall. He wouldn't fit in our no-rebounding-ever lineup.
December 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 04:43 PM) I'd rather have Charlie Villanueva. Bulls need that post up offense and Skiles doesn't seem to want to use it. The bulls got everything they need: A ROY PG Ben "Chucker" Gordan Tyrus "18ft Jumper" Thomas
December 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) I'd rather have Charlie Villanueva. Bulls need that post up offense and Skiles doesn't seem to want to use it. Thats cuz Villanueva would rather shoot jumpers just like TyTom.
December 5, 200817 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 12:54 AM) except that Furcal is a free agent I meant to type Kemp and Pierre, don't know where I got Furcal from.
December 6, 200817 yr Brian Roberts + single A pitcher for Fields, Poreda, Shelby and Anderson. My god. He's Brian Roberts, not Nellie Fox.
December 6, 200817 yr QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 05:34 PM) I meant to type Kemp and Pierre, don't know where I got Furcal from. then grossssssssssssssss Pierre sucks major donkey balls. I'd rather have Owens play, and I hate the s*** out of Owens.
December 6, 200817 yr Jason Marquis for 4th/5th starter anyone? Wittenmyer adds that the Cubs would be willing to eat as much as $4MM of Jason Marquis' $9.875MM salary to move him. If the Cubs were to add Jake Peavy after that, they'd be around $138MM. They could then squeeze in their coveted left-handed hitting outfielder. source, mlbtraderumors

December 6, 200817 yr Jenks traded. Juan Cruz signed. Cruz/Thornton/Linebrink, closer by committee (unless one emerges).
December 6, 200817 yr QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 6, 2008 -> 02:00 PM) Jenks traded. Juan Cruz signed. Cruz/Thornton/Linebrink, closer by committee (unless one emerges). I don't think we'd touch Juan Cruz due to his Type A status and losing the picks...too expensive for a set-up guy, unless you really believe he could step in and be a closer to replace Jenks, which some teams apparently see him as this offseason.
