I realize this is highly dependent on who we get, too, but I don't think I'd mind keeping him at second and trying to acquire a SS or, if Lillibridge impresses, let him start there.

Voted CF because I think it's worth the risk to sign Furcal

with that said, it's a moot point because we aren't signing Furcal

i'd rather have alexei at 2B and furcal at SS

Missle at SS. Lillibridge at 2B.

I'd rather keep Alexei at 2B. There's no telling how good his defense will be at SS.

I like Alexei at either 2B or CF. I don't think I trust him at SS full-time.

Move him to CF, sign Furcal and have Lillibridge/Getz/Nix battle it out for 2B.

Its hard to say. I would have to see some Spring training innings in CF to really be able to judge what I thought.

I think Lilli is a better defender at SS than Alexei.

He's playing for a manager who put Griffey in Center for the last two months of the season.

They tell me Alexei's best position is at SS. His bat is ridiculously valuable there, and we have other options for 2b and CF. Put him at short until he proves its' a mistake.

That does make sense.

2B

SS

CF

I wouldn't be opposed to having him play in any of those three spots as long as we have a real leadoff hitter in the lineup.

That is up for serious debate.

You may not like Anderson/Owens and Getz/Lillibridge/Nix, but if the reality is we don't have the money to make a move on Furcal or Hudson barring a trade of another highly salaried player, the choices are between:

SS Lexi

CF Anderson Owens

2b G/L/N

versus

CF Lexi

SS Getz

2b Lillibridge/Nix

or

2b Lexi

CF Anderson Owens

SS Getz

Defensively though, I think people will see that his arm is not as impressive as they thought when he's making the throw from SS. Tad Iguchi/Cintron/Big Mack made Alexie look like he had a canon from 2nd (he does have a good arm, but not absolutely top notch caliber). I think at SS he'll have a better arm than Cabrera, but a worse arm than Uribe.

Alexei needs some serious practice at Shortstop, considering how good I think he could be at it. But right now, he would only be average. Oz will take care of that. Either way though, he is really our best option at SS.

I said second. We should know after 2 weeks of spring games if he'll be good or a disaster

at short. Hope the sox have the balls to move him back if he sucks at ss.

He was very good at second.

Some of off balance throws from deep CF make me think his arm is plenty strong.

SS.

I'd still love Hudson is he signed for less than Furcal, but I'd doubt that would happen, and Getz is likely to start there I'd say.

You must think highly of Lillibridge?!

You must think highly of Lillibridge?!

Atlanta thought highly enough of him to contemplate trading Escobar and keeping him.

This would benefit the ChiSox a lot.

Alexei CF

Furcal SS

Anybody at 2B

I really don't like the idea of him in CF. Either infield position is fine.

Second until Beckham is ready. Ugh@the CF/OF talk.
