2009 Sox Predictions Merged Threads

Featured Replies

The Sox will repeat in the Central, win 93 games.

Steve Phillips will be so shocked by this that, he will admit that he was a bad GM.

Konerko will hit .300 and have 40 HRs.

Owens will hit .280 and steal 50 bases while starting in CF.

Fields will win the 3rd base job and hit 30 HRs.

Getz will win the 2B job, do decently, but the Sox bring up Beckham in August.

Danks passes Buehrle as the ace of the team, wins 19, ERA about 3.50.

Buehrle wins 13, ERA around 3.80.

Floyd wins 15, ERA around 4.25.

Colon wins 12 with an ERA around 4.00.

Marquez wins the #5 job, has about 7 wins, ERA around 4.70.

How's that for positive and bold, huh?

That's the stuff I agree with.

If our worst ERA is 4.7 from the starters, we'll win more then 93 games.

Konerko. Dye and Quentin all have 100 RBI and 30+ HR

Thome has 30+ HR and 90+ RBI

Alexei hits .300+ 25 HR 75 RBI

Getz hits .275 ,steals 15 bases

AJ hits .280 10 HR

Brian Anderson hits .260 15+ HR 55 RBI 10 steals

MB, Danks and Floyd all have 15+ wins

Colon wins 8 befor he gets injured then Contreras win's 8 when he returns.

Richard is 5th starter , wins 10.

Poreda is the LOOGY.

Jenks saves 40.

Bullpen ERA is just under 4

Beckham becomes 3rd baseman post All-star break.

Viciendo gets AB's as DH against lefties and PH duties post ASB after tearing up the minors.

Sox advance to ALCS and lose to the Yankees in 7 games.

The Sox win 76 games, and Konerko is traded to the Angels, Dye to the Reds, and and Jenks to the Yankees.

Is being in last place this season a bold perdiction?

I wouldnt be surprised to see Floyd get his no no.

I predict we cut over 20 mil in payroll and not sign Bobby Abreu for 5 mil. Oh wait...

The Sox win 92 games

Josh Fields is traded by June

Beckham has a cup of coffee in August

Danks finishes the year in the top 3 in ERA

Jenks gets 40 saves

Konerko has a huge rebound year

Dye disappoints and gets traded in July

Quentin and Alexei both have years consistent with their 2008 numbers

If by $20M you mean $8M then you might just be on to something.

TCQ will not hit over 30 homers this year...

JD will be traded by the break

Viciedo will come up in July and hit about 15 HRs. He will show all Sox fans that he indeed is 'the next big thing'.

Danks will have a sensational season winning 17 games and posting a 3.85 ERA.

Owens will have a nice spring and make the team as our every day CF/leadoff man. But by May he will once again find his way on the DL and Lillybridge will take his spot and do a nice job.

Getz will have a decent rookie campaign. He will bat about .260, 25 SB and 50 RBI.

Fields will prove us all wrong with his defensive play, and will knock out 30 HR. However, his average will be below .240 and his strike out rate will be scary.

Viciedo will make the team and win Rookie of the Year.

-Gavin won't win 10 games.

-Thome won't finish the year on the team

-Poreda wins 5th starter spot, wins 12 games

-Fields makes All-Star Team

So who is getting hurt or traded before opening day?

So who is getting hurt or traded before opening day?

Its a bold prediction, it doesnt have to have a qualifier

Last place?

That would be perdition, not perdiction.

;)

--------------------------

per⋅di⋅tion

1. a state of final spiritual ruin; loss of the soul; damnation.

2. the future state of the wicked.

3. hell; the abode of Satan and the forces of evil

4. utter destruction or ruin.

5. Obsolete

Edited by scenario

We still don't have a reliable set up man to Bobby.

Lexi has an awful spring defensively at ss making Oz wonder what to do.

Dye has another good year since he's Jermaine f***ing Dye.

Paulie starts slowly and gets booed out of the Cell.

CQ becomes even more of a fan favorite and keeps our lineup scary. Lexi hits no matter how bad his D is.

We contend.

JD will be traded by the break

Then you're talking $13M, maybe less.

-By the time August rolls around, our regular fifth starter is either Egbert, Cassel, or Ely

-both Fields and Viciedo prove to be ready to hit a ton right now, and the logjam is solved via an injury to a slugger

-Owens stays healthy through ST, makes the team, and Ozzie sticks with him until his head explodes and he has to finally admit that he made a mistake and that Jerry Owens sucks at baseball; BA becomes the starter and does a pretty good job, starts slowly adjusting from the bench role and gets hot in August through the end of the season

-Bartolo is a total non-factor (is that bold?)

-Sox win 82-86 games, take 3rd in the Central behind CLE and DET; they make a late August and September run when it is too late, but it gives hope for 2010

-Dotel is traded for a weak package at the deadline with the Sox knowing they won't offer arb after the season and Link takes his role; Dotel is the only meaningful player traded, but Betemit also goes as Lillibridge eats up his playing time

one more: by the end of the season Jordan Danks has people wondering if he has a shot at making the team out of ST in 2010

Edited by Kenny Hates Prospects

Chris Getz leads off the most games of any player in the lineup, but doesn't do so until May.

We re-aquire Griffey at the deadline.

Jose Contreras starts making minor league rehab starts in May, and pitches for the Sox in June.
