Seriously? I worked with the Bees last summer when he was there.. seemed like a nice guy. This is a real shame.

Uh, holy crap, that's crazy.

s***. And he was a really damn good prospect too.

Absolutely terrible news. RIP Nick.

Wow. That is sad. He was a good looking pitcher. Very very sad.

Just terrible news. RIP. He just pitched the other night to. Tragic news.

That's awful news, just 22 years old.

that is terrible news, my prayers are with his family. Good thing we didn't trade konerko for him.

DAMN. RIP. :pray

According to TMZ one of the other 2 people killed while riding in the Mitsubishi with Adenhart is affiliated with the Angels organization. What a horrible story.

He was killed only hours after his start in Anaheim.

TMZ.com reports that 22-year-old Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed in a car accident hours after his start Wednesday night against the A's.

A local news station, NBC25, has confirmed the report. According to TMZ: "Cops say someone driving a minivan blew through a red light, causing the Mitsubishi that Adenhart was riding in to hit a light pole. Three people were killed in the crash, including Nick." The van driver reportedly fled the scene before eventually being apprehended, and has been charged with felony hit-and-run. The identities of the other victims have not been revealed, but TMZ reports that "one of the other men killed in the crash was also affiliated with the Angels organization."

This is a really stupid comment.

A. That's the least important thing right now.

B. He'd have been in Chicago last night and would be alive.

C. They would never have done this trade.

TMZ has learned Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Nick Adenhart was killed in a felony hit-and-run car accident in Fullerton, California early this morning -- hours after he pitched in a game last night.

Cops say someone driving a minivan blew through a red light, causing the Mitsubishi that Adenhart and three others were riding in to hit a light pole. Three of the four people in the Mitsubishi were killed in the crash -- Nick, another man and a woman -- while the fourth occupant remains in the hospital.

Cops say the person driving the van fled the scene -- but was later caught and charged with felony hit-and-run. The suspect is also being treated for injuries in a local hospital.

We're told one of the other men killed in the crash was also affiliated with the Angels organization.

Nick was 22 years old.

FYI -- Nick pitched his ass off last night, striking out 5 guys in 6 scoreless innings. His performance was hailed by sportswriters as a "brilliant effort by a 22-year-old right-hander making his fourth Major League start."

Story developing...

Normally when you hear a story like this involving a pro athlete, you almost expect to see something about the athlete doing drugs or drinking or some other stupid thing. In this case, some idiot ran a red light.

Oh, my god. I just read the story and... i'm so sorry for everyone involved. This kid was genuine talent, and he proved it on the mound yesteday, and for it to be taken away...

Wow, the kid finally got his shot due to injuries and looked a lot better last night. Horrific news, RIP Nick, Rip Nick.

Holy crap.

RIP sir.

RIP. Life cut short. Horrible.
