May 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (rangercal @ May 21, 2009 -> 12:00 PM) Does anyone know any big names who exercised their no trade clause in the past? I am preparing for a major heart break and don't want to feel alone. Jim Edmonds to our Sox i believe.
May 21, 200916 yr I'm not holding my breath on him agreeing to come to the Sox. If he does come he would be a big help.
May 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:00 AM) At the end of this thread, Jake Peavy is either going to be the greatest pitcher who ever lived or the biggest tool. If he doesn't waive his NTC, does this do anything to his reputation? Does he look like a selfish jackass?

I am preparing for a major heart break and don't want to feel alone. I think Phil Nevin did it a couple years ago. However, I'd hardly consider him a big name. However, oddly enough, he was with the Padres when he declined a trade.

I am preparing for a major heart break and don't want to feel alone. Recently with the White Sox, Jim Edmonds and Carlos Delgado. I know Rafael Palmiero rejected a trade to the Cubs a year or so before he was busted. It happens a lot but is not publicized.
May 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) Jim Edmonds to our Sox i believe. I think also one of, if not both, Larry Walker and Carlos Delgado rejected trades to come here.
May 21, 200916 yr Quick....someone get him an Italian Beef sandwich and a deep dish pizza to enjoy while he contemplates his decision
May 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:00 AM) At the end of this thread, Jake Peavy is either going to be the greatest pitcher who ever lived or the biggest tool. Yeah, if this doesn't go down, they're gonna have to hire a security detail for him whenever the Padres are in town.
May 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ May 21, 2009 -> 12:01 PM) If he doesn't waive his NTC, does this do anything to his reputation? Does he look like a selfish jackass? On the contrary, what would it do to our reputation?

May 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:00 AM) At the end of this thread, Jake Peavy is either going to be the greatest pitcher who ever lived or the biggest pussy. Fixed. (Just what everybody will be saying)
May 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:00 AM) At the end of this thread, Jake Peavy is either going to be the greatest pitcher who ever lived or the biggest tool. LOL. Very good DA. And so true.
May 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (BearSox @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:59 AM) So hungry for breakfast, but can't seem to pull myself away from computer............ Looks at watch... Late night, eh?
May 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (BearSox @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) I think Phil Nevin did it a couple years ago. However, I'd hardly consider him a big name. However, oddly enough, he was with the Padres when he declined a trade.I wonder if the fact that this deal is publicized has to do with the chances of Peavy accepting, or just the big name attached to the deal. I also wonder if Peavy is more likely to accept knowing that the whole world knows about the trade now.
May 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 21, 2009 -> 12:02 PM) Quick....someone get him an Italian Beef sandwich and a deep dish pizza to enjoy while he contemplates his decision Who wouldn't move across the country for Portillos and Lou Malnatti's? Edited May 21, 200916 yr by Thunderbolt
May 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 21, 2009 -> 12:03 PM) Griffey to Sox in 2006? I think he declined in 2005. I wasn't mad at the time though.
May 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (BearSox @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:03 AM) If he rejects this trade as well, he must REALLY love it in San Diego. With that weather who could blame him?
May 21, 200916 yr Forgive me if this has been mentioned (like I said, I'm not going through 35+ pages), but that guy who first broke this on the MLB boards deserves a TON of credit.
May 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 21, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) Who wouldn't move across the country for Portillos and Lou Maggiano's? haha, what?
May 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (rangercal @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:02 AM) On the contrary, what would it do to our reputation? Maddux and Griffey both rejected trades to the Yankees. And that didn't exactly turn the Yankees into a second-tier organization.
May 21, 200916 yr Linebrink on the Score right now... says he couldn't get a read on which way he's leaning yesterday and asked basic questions FAs ask when picking teams
