In theory this is true, but I'd be more confident in Huet if he had ever won a playoff series before.

Although Niemi hasn't either, so that point is probably moot.

The bigger point to all of this is, I don't think the Hawks brass is looking to move Huet, and even if they were, the takers are few and far between.

They'd have to make a second major deal to acquire an upper-level goalie anyway.

If you can't get an elite goalie from anyone, then you're just trading Huet for another question mark, and what's the point of that?

I would shocked to find out that anyone who had the cap space would be interested in Huet.

Huet's contract is another example of how the Hawks had to overpay for their talent not long ago. But you're right, anyone with the cap space would be nuts to take Huet.

CommittedIndians.com (a great Hawks blog, btw) posed an interesting maneuver of buying out Huet, which spreads his salary over four years to the tune of 2M per annum for that amount of time.

That doesn't do the Hawks any favors, either. I hate to say it because I can't stand seeing him on the ice but it looks like they're stuck with him.

Nice win in Calgary for the Hawks tonight. Niemi again showing why he should be the number one.

Wow, what homers. Kiprusoff got the 1st star. To be fair, the Hawks scored 6 and 7 goals the last two times vs the Flames (I know they werent all against Kip though).

I gotta admit though. Kipper kept that game from getting out of hand by himself. Madden should of had a hat trick.

Neimi had just as good of a game though.

Versteeg is in a serious slump, looks like s***. Calgary is a team I love to beat, they are f***ing assholes.

He missed a wide open net by about three feet last night from in close.

random question, but does corey crawford have any NHL future? He just popped into my head and I realized I haven't heard his name in months.

Canucks (esp. their fans) are much, much worse.

I would have to agree with this one. I can not stand Roberto Luongo and the rest of the whiny Canucks. It seems like whenever the Hawks play them, they whine and complain about something. It is always great to watch the Hawks be the crap out of them.

Way to seize the day Antti...

Huet wasn't much better, though he looked alot better than Niemi tonight. Sedins are having a crazy year.

I like Niemi and would rather see him in goal than Huet, even after the Vancouver game. That was a game where the Hawks just flat out got beat. Vancouver matched their momentum and had an answer for everything the Hawks tried to do.

Niemi's got potential, but he owes a lot of his success to luck—watch his shutouts, or even his wins—and listen for the amount of iron opposing shooters draw. It is imperative that he handle the puck better, stay in position better and give up fewer rebounds.I think his upside is far greater than the Frenchman, who at age 34 and his fourth NHL stop probably will only ever be a backup.

Can he learn how to do that? Well, I think he can—he's young and hasn't played much in the NHL. Huet, OTOH—I think he's as good as he is going to get, which is not very.

I want the Hawks to get a top-flight goaltending coach for Niemi, like Belfour had the luxury of working with Vladislav Tretiak in his days as a Blackhawk. Ed Belfour is a goalie consultant for St. Louis, and that's a guy who needs to become an ambassador and brought back to the family.

Another Crying Canuck

This is just another example of how much I don't like the Canucks and how they whine about everything? Should be an easy one tonight in Edmonton, hopefully, then another big game with San Jose on Thursday.

Edmonton haven't won in 2010 yet lol

I saw his clip the other day. They need to worry about beating the Hawks in a playoff series, instead of this kind of crap.

He may want to focus on not blocking punches with his face.

Laddy lit his ass up. That was the best part. He got him face to face, and still got abused.

Chrissy's Save % tonight = 87.5%

Impressive.

From what I heard, the photos were seriously photoshopped. But if the team is contacting the site, then maybe not all of them were...

last i checked its not illegal to have your shirt off or drink beer if you are of age,......this is a non-issue.....really the orton pictures never really hurt the guy or the team...it just made him more of an internet legend than anything...this is no different

i was wondering why the chicks weren't a little better looking....then i realized they were in canada

Well at least Kaner learned to get a limo instead of getting a cab. I just hope he paid in advance.
