If he doesn't wanna play DH they should refrain from even calling his agent.

If only we could be lucky enough that someone would jump in and sign him before the arbitration-offer deadline.

Hmm, I honestly wouldn't mind JD at 1B on the cheap, PK moved with Jenks for an impact player or two and signing a major player. Sounds too good though.

Its either DH or find another team. Sure his bat probably comes back. The terrible defense and multiyear contract that he would require isn't work the risk.

He did the samething when his contract was about to expire and the Dye to Boston rumors started. He really strikes me as mentally weak.

How mobile do you have to be to play 1B in USCF? Besides being 6'6" might be his best asset.

Would you root for dye if he went to another team in the division like you do for crede? Even when their at-bats can be the difference in a win or loss?

Typical case of a great (or in this case really good) player that can't accept the fact that he's not what he once was. I'll never say anything negative about JD that's not performance related. I just can't. I've got too much respect for the man. And he does have a point that last year's second half could've been a fluke. But for him to act like he would be insulted to DH? With the way his D has fallen off the last few years? Supreme denial at its finest.

I'm not bashing Dye - but he also fell apart in '08 too when we needed him most.

I really have to agree with you Fathom. The reaction from some of the vets on the Sox really bothered me when they brought in Rios. Here your G. M. is bringing in players to try to help your team win, and we apparently had some veterans who were worried about their playing time. I don't know who all these players were for sure but we do know the J. D. was one of them. Worry about winning first and your contract will take care of itself.

 

Again, I'm not in the clubhouse and I really don't have any inside information other than the media. But with the Rios thing, the Swisher thing, the Getz thing, and other issues that I'm not remembering; I believe that it's time to replace the leadership in the clubhouse. It would not upset me at all to have Dye, Konerko, and maybe others gone for the 2010 season.

I think JD is making a mistake by saying he won't play at DH. I suppose there are a few teams that will seek him out to play RF (or 1st as he says), but there would be more team (White Sox included) that would consider him at DH.

Actually O-Cab wanted to stay. KW told him to stay away though because they would make his life miserable by benching him if he decided to accept arbitration.

He wanted to stay...in the sense that he could probably tell he'd make more in arbitration than he would if he declined it.

He talked because they didn't want him back, told him not to accept arbitration because they would bench him, and the Sox talked about him on his way out. Money was a motivating factor for the most part though.
