Done.

We love you.

D'Oh

Apple has suffered another embarrassment. A security breach has exposed iPad owners including dozens of CEOs, military officials, and top politicians. They--and every other buyer of the wireless-enabled tablet--could be vulnerable to spam marketing and malicious hacking.

The breach, which comes just weeks after an Apple employee lost an iPhone prototype in a bar, exposed the most exclusive email list on the planet, a collection of early-adopter iPad 3G subscribers that includes thousands of A-listers in finance, politics and media, from New York Times Co. CEO Janet Robinson to Diane Sawyer of ABC News to film mogul Harvey Weinstein to Mayor Michael Bloomberg. It even appears that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel's information was compromised.

It doesn't stop there. According to the data we were given by the web security group that exploited vulnerabilities on the AT&T network, we believe 114,000 user accounts have been compromised, although it's possible that confidential information about every iPad 3G owner in the U.S. has been exposed. We contacted Apple for comment but have yet to hear back. We also reached out to AT&T for comment.

AT&T closed the security hole in recent days, but the victims have been unaware, until now. For a device that has been shipping for barely two months, and in its wireless configuration for barely one, the compromise is a rattling development. The slip up appears to be AT&T's fault at the moment, and it will complicate the company's already fraught relationship with Apple. But it will also likely unnerve customers thinking of buying iPads that connect to AT&T's cellular network.

So, this is an AT&T flaw, not Apple, correct?

I love this competition to be honest.

You have cellular carriers competing against one another for the most superior service for their.

You have hardware vendors competing for the best piece of technology for their customers.

You have software companies and developers competing for the best end user experience and customer loyalty.

You have accessory companies competing for the best experience and value for their customers.

It really cant get much better than this. Cable and Sat companies arent even competing and advancing as much as this market. I f***ing love it. Its about f***ing time.

No matter what ends up happening, we will win.

The UI is a problem. There is a "base" UI that you can use, but most people leave on the phone distributer's overlay. I think the uniformity will come when Google releases a UI that is good enough to be the default across all the phones.

The control is a very fair point. I dont know how this will play out, but Android will be incorporated into cars soon... mark my words. With regards to charing, most, if not all, mobile phones will be charged via Micro-USB in the next few years. It's finally become the standard due to regulations in Europe.

I'm not sure exactly, but I think the FCC mandated that all phones will have to use the same charger by 2012 here. Really there is no reason they shouldn't be, that's just a slap in the face to the consumer for many different reasons.

One of our vendors/ partners came in Monday and part of what he showed us was on his iPad. It's a cool device with a great interface, I just wish it did more. Give me a Windows-based (because I'm too lazy to mess with Linux or anything else) tablet with the same interface and I'll be hard-pressed to stop myself from buying one.

Yeah, that is ridiculous. They'll have to standardize input voltages and amps, but that beats having a different home charger, car charger and USB cable for every model of phone.

For all current iPhone users, you can call *639# to see whether you are eligible for an upgrade for the new iPhone4. A text will be sent to your phone within a few seconds with an explanation.

The upgrade price is $199 for the 16gb and $299 for the 32gb plus an $18 upgrade fee on a new 2 year contract.

iPhone 4 has been pre-ordered.

There must have been a million people pre-ordering this morning, as it took me more than an hour just to get my order in. Site kept timing out.

All I know is that I love my Droid Eris and the iheartradio app is proving to be neat.

I'm expecting the AAPL shares to peak about 10 days after it gets released and then I'm going to sell.

Probably not a bad time, Keith.

I dunno though...I think the iPad has exceeded even the most optimistic projections...the stock just may not be done rising yet...

Swype available in the android market tomorrow. If you haven't tried this thing you're in for a treat.

I've been a beta user and can't say enough great things.

Ordered a Droid HTC Incredible about a week ago, supposed to ship on 6/22. I'm psyched, the reviews look great.

That's a pretty awesome phone. I got to play with one recently.

For those who really want the latest phone just wait for the Motorola Shadow, Im not kidding when I say taht thing is gonna blow your mind with its features. The screen itself is so large that its the size of the Palm Pre, actually bigger, you place the Pre on it and the screen devours the whole phone.

Once they get 2.2 on that sucker watch out, but its also probably going to cost atleast $250 when it comes out.

But you can say the same exact thing right after the Shadow comes out with regards to another up and coming super phone. At this current pace there's a phone that 'beats them all' coming out every 6 months. AT some point you just need to pick one out and use it until you're able to get an upgrade.

Fair enough, but I also see this phone being heads and shoulders above the best phones right now, which to me is different than saying "this new phone is better, but not dramatically and therefore I should just go for the older one." Its like the difference between iphone 3Gs and 4g, if not more IMO.

Looking at the specs I fail to see how it's better than my EVO.

Yeah, I'm not playing that game. I use a phone for a few years, its starts to get beat up, I'm eligible for a free or very cheap upgrade, then i go and get the best phone I can at that time.

They arent as backordered as they tell you, my gf has already had two in the last few weeks. If you do to an independent store they prob have them in stock. IN Yorktown they get several a day.

That's what I thought last time but it didn't really happen. The stock was climbing steadily when I bought it, then kept going up quickly, then plateaued, then went up and down, a couple of times below what I bought it for. Right now it's back in a steady climb because of the iphone. A couple of weeks after the ipad launched it just kind of sat there for weeks. So I figure if I time this right I can make about $300... not bad for 5 shares.
