July 2, 201015 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 11:08 PM) Very strange inning, as Shoppach didn't tag up then on a diving catch by Kubel, and then in the bottom of the inning, Soriano threw 5 straight pitches to Hudson that were in the K zone, and 2 of them were called balls. Yeah, I dunno what the hell Shoppach was doing as Kubel was rolling around on the ground with the ball. And Tschida had a very tight vertical zone, and a bit of a wide horizontal zone. I agree though, Soriano struck out Hudson twice before getting him to pop up.

I had the game on TV, the two pitches called balls in that at bat looked to be literally down the middle and actually a bit below the belt in height. I was amazed they were both calls balls.
July 2, 201015 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 10:23 PM) Wow, Jackie Tavener goes 5-5 with three triples in a game in 1925 and yet doesn't score a run. His team's offense must have been very similar to ours... Did he have Omar Vizquel in his lineup too??? That was his rookie season, right?
July 3, 201015 yr Tigers won. David Price was wild early, but has settled down the last few innings. 1-0 Rays, top 7th
July 3, 201015 yr Twins lead 2-1 in the 7th. Delmon Young seems to get more clutch hits than anyone for the Twins this season.

July 3, 201015 yr QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) Jim Thome has 2 homers today. Passed Harmon Killebrew for 10th on the all time list. That's two more than Mauer has at home all season.
July 3, 201015 yr QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) That's two more than Mauer has at home all season. You totally stole that from Joe Buck. Edited July 3, 201015 yr by iamshack

July 3, 201015 yr QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 05:52 PM) Pinch hit slam. Rays up big now. BARELY got out but it doesn't matter, still a Grand Slam. Yay Rays.
July 4, 201015 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) Seattle and Tampa both win. This is our chance. *claps vigorously*
July 4, 201015 yr QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 12:34 PM) Nice to see Seattle just completely roll over in this series against the Tigers. Roll over? They suck. The Mariners front-office forgot (or flat-out ignored) that actually scoring runs is a big part of this game we call baseball.

July 4, 201015 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) Hmm, where have I heard this before... At least with us you could envision scenarios (obviously hasn't worked out) that we could be at least an average offense. You knew from jump the Mariners were going to have a tougher time scoring than 40-year Old Virgin.

You knew from jump the Mariners were going to have a tougher time scoring than 40-year Old Virgin. But they...they...they had Junior! and Mike SWEENEY!!!!
