Downs gets out of a huge jam by striking out Sizemore and Larish. Tigers and Jays tied at 3.

He needs to chop off that mullet.

Musta been the wind.

Let's hope we can be 4 games up on the Tigers by the end of the day. That, along with their injuries and tough schedule should make this a two team race pretty soon.

Frasor basically blew two of those games in the Tigers, Jays series.

Twins starting to click against all of the scrubs they've been playing.

Thanks Zack Greinke for giving the Royals a chance to at least win one game this series. Sox really need to dominate this home stand, Twins have Seattle coming to town this weekend.

in the last 4 games, the Twins have scored 46 runs and have had 72 hits

Danny Valencia is 14-19 (.739) in his last 4 games

Mauer playing through pain...the question is how much it will affect him the next 8 years of that contract?

Bonderman Considering Retirement

By Tim Dierkes [July 28 at 9:16am CST]

Jeremy Bonderman is seriously considering retiring at age 28 after the season, reports Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press. Bonderman will be a free agent, and he could hang up the spikes if he doesn't get an acceptable offer to return to the Tigers or sign with a team somewhat near his Pasco, Washington home.

Bonderman says he's saved a lot of money, so he has the ability to retire. He's earned over $40MM in his career, most of it coming from a four-year deal signed in '06. Bonderman should find interest if he decides to continue pitching. He's shown good health, decent peripherals, and flashes of his former velocity this year.

Why the f*** do the Royals keep playing us so tough and roll over for the Twins?

What is with the Twins? Is it that they were constructed to just be better than anybody in the Central? Year after year they are champs. Their early exits in the playoffs never seem to demoralize them or take away their momentum.

They've been on fire since your guy Bobby Jenks blew the big hairy one against them in the finale of the series there. Well that, and they're playing some weak competition right now.

Competition that gives us fits.

Seattle took 3/4 from the Twins earlier this year.

And the Twins lost 2 of 3 at home to Cleveland starting this stretch too. The only thing the Twins have done a lot better than us in is divisional games, and most of our divisional games were early on when we absolutely sucked.

Delmon Young is doing for the Twins offense what Rios was doing for our offense the first few months.

In the end, talent usually beats scrapiness and playing the game the right way in the postseason.

Plus, their pitching's never been super outstanding.

I believe this is the most talented Twins team they've assembled on the offensive end.

Oh definitely. I was just talking about Twins teams of the past.

you guys got to beat up on the Os and weaker NL teams earlier in the year. Things are evening out now, and it shows the Sox and Twins are pretty much even teams recordwise

The Sox haven't played the Orioles yet.

And it's not like the the Twins didn't play the Brewers 6 times. It's their fault they got swept.

wow, for some reason I thought the Sox played the O's during that month were you won 40 games

Punto just left the game, sound like a pulled hamstring

The Twins were playing horrible for most of our streak and that is a talented team so not surprising that they are finally on a roll now.

any estimation on Hudson? Seems like he has visited the DL a few times this year, or at least has been injured a few times
