So it looks like (though we still have 2 periods to play) it's gonna a Blackhawk (Kane) against at LEAST 2 Blackhawks for the gold. (Hossa/Kopecky or Keith/Seabrook/Toews) Gonna be fun to watch.

So thats at least 3 players that probably wont be playing Tuesday against the Islanders.

For all the b****ing about how uneven the womens hockey is, two of the last 4 mens games have been lopsided and over in the 1st period too

Wow. And I thought Canada's performance against Russia the other night was some kind of statement!

It'd be different if Finland was on the level of Russia, and Finland actually had any kind of player come to play the sport of hockey in the 1st period.

The USA women just pulled off a monster upset in the quarterfinals of the team pursuit (long track speed skating) taking down the gold medal favored Canadians.

But this is a different caliber of beatdown. This game was over in 15 minutes, you can't say that about the Russia game. It's not like Russia showed up in the first either.

Well, if Nabokov was bad, then I don't know what adjective describes Kiprusoff and Backstrom in the 1st period.

Just like both games, the goalie was pulled way too late. Kipper should have been pulled when he let in the third goal on what 5 shots.. They left him in before pulling him down 4-0.

Serbia with 52.37 and 52.40 in their first 2 heats. Some of the speeds at Whistler have been nuts. Good to see them not flip in their first ever Olympic appearance. It was awesome watching them compete. Not sure what happens now.

Nice win for the US. Now Canada needs to take care of business to make this rematch happen.

Not gonna lie, when I got out of a meeting and saw it was 6-0 I thought Kaner had 4 of them.

Canada up 2-0 in the 1st period. Looks like it will be the US v. Canada for the Gold on Sunday.

It's still quite early.

I'm going for the jinx. But with the way Canada is playing it is going to be really tough for Slovakia to come back.

So the USA has now won 34 medals which ties the USA 's for its best ever Winter Olympics performance and leaves them 2 back of Germany's record of 36. However, the USA is guaranteed at least 2 more medals in Hockey and Men's team pursuit which will tie the record and has a really good chance of medals in Bobsled, and Women's team pursuit plus three medal contenders in the Men's slalom. Looks good for the USA to win the most medals but it very well could be Canada that wins the most golds.

What was once a 3-0 Canada lead is now a 3-2 game with 5 minutes to go.

Wow Pavol Demitra missed basically an open net with less than 30 seconds left that would have tied the score. Canada survives and sets up the rematch on Sunday.

I was pulling for Slovakia (cause I think USA has an easier chance of beating them), but I love the USA/Canada matchup. Should be an epic game, and I love that the game is on Sunday, which doesn't have any "competition" per say on other networks.

What a meltdown tonight by the Slovaks.

Really wanted Slovakia to win just to see a new team win a medal.

The Hossa Curse.

[green, I hope]

4-2 Canada takes it.

The US is going to set a record with 37 metals in this Olympics.

The US is going to set a record with 37 metals in this Olympics.

And considering the periodic table only contains 40 total transition metals, that's a solid haul.

USA!
