Doesn't have the same impact during the day IMO.

blackouts need to be saved for truly "big games." Opening day does not fit my blackout criteria.

He may be calling for a blackout, but I ain't answering the phone.

In all honesty, I think it would equally as good in the day as it won't look like there's no fans. With that said, I fully expect half the stadium to be out of dress code.

I like the idea....sort of sets the tone for the season.

People really don't understand KW's comments. He's simply asking Ozzie to start Andruw Jones instead of Kotsay on Opening Day.

unless Brooks gets on this s*** and sends out some commercials and a bunch of press through TV / news papers.

I think it's a good idea. It's on national television, opening day is always a sellout, and stuff like this gets noticed and consequently sells more tix for future games.

BTW, will Chicagoland Comcast viewers be able to watch it on ESPN2 or will it be blacked out in local areas? I'd rather watch ESPN2 than CSN.

:lolhitting

is this game gonna be on CSN or ESPN2?

i'm tired of this being blacked out because I dont live in chicago nonsense, all of IL should be considered for Sox blackout restrictions, regional s*** pisses me off

i don't want to watch the cardinals on Fox Saturdays when the Sox are on at the same time

I absolutely hate this s***. Worst thing about going to school down here at ISU.

I always get stuck with the Braves/Mets type games.

Your awesome.

Why wouldn't Kenny want Opening Day to be televised?

But isn't Andruw Jones really only an imposter?

You guys are asking for trouble.

Cmon Kenneth, blackout is gonna lose all its intensity now.

Blackout games should be reserved for MUST WIN games. I hope they don't wear it out. I was there at the play in game in 08. Blackout games have POWER. I've witnessed it first hand. I was there screaming at the top of my lungs "THIS AIN'T THE DOME B**HES!!!" And like Peter Parker's Uncle Ben says... "With great power comes great responsibility". We must not misuse the power of the Blackout...

Still if your going to the game don't not wear black because you don't believe in it, wear black because a half assed blackout is worse then a full opening day black out.

Technically, aren't all games must win games? I think KW is trying to set the tone for the season. Come out with intensity from the opening gate and jump out to a huge lead. It's the same as in 2005 when we came out blazing. I understand it and if I were going to Opening Day, I'd fully support it.

This!

Please, just do it for the sake of not embarassing the organazation. The place would look horrible with a half blackout.

Why not just get Miller or somebody to sponsor Black shirts for all fans?

They'd never go for it.
