Pretty sure it's still not enough. JJ plus Gibson plus Deng is necessary just to get the contracts close.

You're right, I just checked and it doesn't work.

Deng + JJ + Gibson + A pick is my max offer at that point.

I feel like this has probably been posted somewhere, but I haven't seen it. If it has, my bad.     http://www.nba.com/cavaliers/news/gilbert_letter_100708.html   Not sure how everyone else

Any system that determines that Deng is worth more wins than Anthony needs some serious tweaks.

For comparison, Hollinger had Anthony at 15.5 estimated wins added last year, Deng was at 7.4, Noah was at 7. Basketball reference has 'Melo at 7.9, Deng at 5.9 and Noah at 6.2. Those makes FAR more sense to me (though I would personally split the difference and guess that Anthony is worth around 10 wins subjectively).

The question is how you're defining the replacement player.

Quick thought:

What happens if JJ starts to tap into his talent this year?

A bench of Watson-Korver-JJ-Gibson-Asik could go a long way in terms of depth.

Frankly, the Bulls are so deep already that he's not going to get many minutes to start the year. Could change rapidly if/when Deng goes down, but the Bulls aren't caring about developing kids right now.

Carlos Boozer out 8 weeks with fractured hand...

Carlos Boozer out 8 weeks with fractured hand...

That was quick.

f***ing s***.

At least we got Taj to be a stop gap while we await his return.

That's what happens when you give Carlos Boozer big money.

The basketball gods do not want the Bulls to have a low-post threat.

Also, Melo trades are out of the question now, since we can't give up 2 starters (Deng/Taj, Deng/Noah) for him.

It's basically the first 4 weeks of the season. So if you're going to miss time thats the perfect time to miss.

The Melo move is a long term one, you survive 4 weeks without Deng/Taj if you get Melo

8 weeks starting from right now is only 15 regular season games.

He'll miss 15 games.

Ya and if you're gunna miss 15 i'd rather it be the first 15 then the last.

Because the Bulls never have a hard road trip in their first 15 games.

Carlos Boozer could miss the entire regular season and the Bulls would still make the playoffs. So ya I would rather him miss the beginning then the end.

And because there is never a meaningful game at the end of the season

We should get used to hearing this phrase in Chicago.

Rumor going around now that he hurt himself doing a non basketball event.

Yesterday was a surprise day off of practice from Thibs.

And this is why the Bulls didn't wanna give up Taj Gibson. Bulls will be fine at the beginning.
