Correct call letting Peavy hit here. No f***ing way you pinch hit. Let him strike out if he must but it's too early to pull him.

Thanks Captain Obvious :notworthy

Dadgummit, almost.

Nice idea Jake, just couldn't hit it hard enough.

You know damn well Oz would have been crucified for not pitching around AJ.

Jayson Nix gets the IBB. Again, I hate the NL.

Soto has a .265 avg., but a .405 OBP with 32 walks. Its not that he has suddenly become more patient, its just that he has been hitting in fornt of the pitcher all the time.

The lower part of our order was already a black hole, now you add a pitcher to it and it's the most dangerous rally killer alive...

Huge inning here for Peavy. It's so important to get to the non Marshall/Marmol part of the Cubs bullpen.

A.J. Pierzynski has been a P.O.S. hitter this year, the last thing you want to do is put him on base for free and waste pitches while doing it.

Wells is done, Fontenot to PH

God I hate the NL. Let hitters hit and pitchers pitch.

Wells already out of the game.

Hopefully like fathom said, we can get to the bad part of the Cubs bullpen. According to CBS Stevens is warming up. Hopefully we can put the 1st dent into his ERA...9 IP no runs.

Throwing the invisible baseball so far this year. Let's get some guys on for Rios.

Edited by fathom

Peavy looking good.

The offense of this team while not showing up in the numbers is becoming markedly better than last year to the naked eye.

I guess Rios like Quentin 2 years ago can do this.

I am leaving work to fight the Chicago traffic....godspeed Sox fans.

Rios now 3 for 3 with a single.

Hit it high and let it fly PK!

Can you say En Fuego? Where would we be without this guy? Like 4 games behind Cleveland?

Rios stole 2nd on a wild pitch

Fangraphs thinks he's been worth 3 wins above a replacement...assuming he was replaced by an average player.

Compared to Mark Kotsay though, who'd probably be playing there, I'd guess that's like a 6-8 game difference.

Chad Tracy almost juggled himself out of that play.

Ok Jake, got to keep it in the park this inning!

That's 3 wins plus the replacement level at this point.

And yeah, with Kotsay being there instead, I'd say we can easily be 5 games worse.

Big inning for Peavy here.
