July 11, 201015 yr God, I feel really bad for him. Haha. There is ZERO room for him on this team right now. Omar Dayan and Lillibridge all just doing outstanding. The crazy streak(s) all with out him in the line-up....
July 11, 201015 yr Somebody will go when he gets back. It might be Dayan. Does Lillibridge have any options left?
July 11, 201015 yr Author Can Teahen go? I have no problems with him there's just no room on the team for him anymore...not this year or in the next 3 really...
July 11, 201015 yr It's about time for Linebrink to go on his annual month and a half DL stint anyways, and the Sox don't need a 12th pitcher, so that's what I suggest.

Hasnt Ozzie always carried 12 pitchers though, the most logical choice would have him taking Kotsay's place but we all know that wont happen.

July 11, 201015 yr Well here are the options: Lillibridge - great numbers thus far, great speed, can play many positions. Viciedo - great numbers, OK defense, lots of power, but not very versatile. Kotsay - bad numbers, can back-up first well, sucks anywhere else. Jones - bad numbers, lots of power, but plays CF where no one else can besides Rios. Jones clearly won't be going, Kotsay as well because he is a veteran, so really it comes down to Lilly and Tank (despite the fact that I would rather see Kotsay go, but that won't happen). Tank is playing great, but he really isn't a utility player like Lillibridge who really could play anywhere in a pinch and is very useful as a pinch runner. My guess is that they will drop Viciedo so he can continue to get consistent at-bats. Edited July 11, 201015 yr by maggsmaggs
July 11, 201015 yr Hopefully KW man's up and just cuts Kotsay when Teahen comes back, no reasoning behind keeping a veteran player hitting .230 no power and can only play 1B.
July 11, 201015 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 03:27 PM) Somebody will go when he gets back. It might be Dayan. Does Lillibridge have any options left? We optioned him to AAA in March so yeah, an option counts for the entire season. It's an "optional year" so you can only burn one in a given season. We can send him down at anytime without having to worry about losing him.

July 11, 201015 yr If Teahen proves that he is completely healthy, what if KW tries to find some sucker to take him?
July 11, 201015 yr QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 09:27 PM) Somebody will go when he gets back. It might be Dayan. Does Lillibridge have any options left? Lilli is doing good. They might figure it's better to give Dayan more playing time-who knows. It will be intersting to see what happens though Edited July 11, 201015 yr by elrockinMT
July 11, 201015 yr QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) I think Teahen can do pretty much anything Kotsay can do... Yeah, but he doesn't have a nicely trimmed, veteran-style beard. That alone keeps him on the roster in Ozzie's eyes. That beard = veteran experience = super valuable.
July 12, 201015 yr How horrible does the Teahan signing look now? I mean, it looked bad at the time but with Vizquel and Brown Bear giving the Sox a nice little offense/defense platoon at 3B there is no room for him on the roster. Like others have said, just man up and cut Kotsay. Sox don't need a backup first baseman that is barely hitting his weight.
July 12, 201015 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 08:02 PM) Trade Teahen to the Phillies. Is Polanco still hurt?

July 12, 201015 yr Any chance the Sox can just put him on an extended minor league rehab stint and try and stretch it out for as many excuses as possible so they can wait until rosters expand in September?
July 12, 201015 yr QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 08:10 PM) I thought the Cuban Tank was quite official? Tank and Cuban Tank are just awesome. Makes me think of Tank Abbott. ...I think I'm gonna start calling him Tank Viciedo since I'm still not sure how Dayan is pronounced, anyway.

July 12, 201015 yr What ? No one thinks Teahen will be the left handed bat we need ? The way the team is playing now and with Teahen's eventual return KW should look to include him in a deal. But if not, with Lillibridge being 5-5 as a pinch hitter that really does reduce Kotsay's role a lot more. The problem is everyone's playing well right now, Kotsay included, and it's a beautiful problem .
