After AJ popped out in the AB in the 3rd, he slammed his bat down, broke it in two, and chucked a broken piece into the Twins dugout fence. Thome took exception and tossed it back.

Why would you do that, as you'd be pretty an extremely below average bat at 1b and DH. AJP's only value is that he's a durable catcher.

Because he clearly isnt cutting it this season offensively and Flowers might not hit for avg. but he at least will walk and hit for some power. Id love AJ if he would agree to be backup, maybe still get 2ish games a week.
