f*** f*** f*** f*** f***

I'm waiting for the inevitable posts about him, just like Hall and Mitchell the last two years...

Via Merkin for confirmation

Viciedo has a fractured right thumb. Expect out 3 to 4 weeks. More to come on whitesox.com

Nooooo

f***!!! By far the most impressive player in camp.

Thumbs are very tricky to heal correctly.

To put the cherry on top, it is Dayans 22nd birthday.

He was going to start at AAA anyways, so Im not overly concerned. And 3-4 weeks isnt too bad, nothing you want him to miss but it's not close to as big as Mitchell.

4 weeks is a week into the season. I imagine this makes the choice easier for the Sox.

At least we can stop hearing talk about dumping Teahen and breaking camp with DV.

Why, I always wanted Teahen to be gone and replaced by somebody else not named Dayan Viciedo.

I'm just hoping it heals the way we want it to. Lots of players have had lingering issues with thumbs.

True. It's just a bad way to solve a good problem.

As long as they don't need surgery to pin a displaced fracture it will heal fine. If they're saying 3-4 weeks I'm assuming that it isn't displaced. He'll be able to start swing a bat then but probably won't play in a game until around the 5th week. Bones take 6-8 weeks to fully heal but a callus forms around 3 so that's when the fracture will become stable enough to begin activities.

Our run of minor league injuries does continue unabated.

Good to know. That puts him back into the lineup in a little more than a month and a half?

I'd like some advice from you on how to heal this damn skiier's thumb injury I've had for years.

He's done Trade him for a Yankee farm scrub. Anyway that answers that for about 2 months. I would expect Teahan's value and the team need to inflate and he will stick with the team.

Unfortunately a skier's thumb is not an injury you can do anything about. It's a torn ligament that needs to be repaired within about 3-4 days of the injury otherwise the ligament shrinks and cannot be repaired. I'ts the only ligament on the ulnar side of the thumb. Without it the thumb is unstable and things like writing and gripping can be difficult. There are no muscles or other structures that cross the joint in that area so nothing can really compensate for it. There are braces that you can buy that will help stabilize it.

I had the same injury about 20 years ago and had surgery. It does well but I still use a brace when I do alot of things with patients that will stress it.

Who?

CRAAAAAAP!!!

This no big deal.

Unruffled panties prevail.

Actually might be a blessing in disguise. This way, he can't start the year in the Majors and will go down to AAA and play everyday like he should.
