that was scary

Classy applause by the diamondback fans, after John got nailed by the line drive

did the ball hit off his head? or his shoulder? they keep saying his head, but never really showed a good replay.

Since the start of the 2003 season, the White Sox lead the majors with 746 quality starts.

Pretty good argument for Cooper, especially playing 81 of those games at USCF each year.

I think it was his shoulder/upper back/lower neck area.

At first, it seemed like it went off his head. Scary moment.

Correction: they're saying it was his head.

Side of his head, up and to the rear of his left ear.

At leat he only gave up 2.

How did that not appear to hurt? He got hit by a line drive in the head, and it didn't appear to have had any impact - WTF?

It's the hardest part of his entire body probably...just got really lucky.

And I am sure it did hurt, and will hurt tonight/tomorrow.

It's probably going to wind up doing more damage than anyone realizes right now.

The skull itself will bruise but there isn't a lot of tissue right there to damage. the issue is the impact on the brain, which is poorly understood at best. They at least did the basic concussion tests but people fight those.

Yeah, I'm kind of shocked he's still in the game right now. What if he were to have some sort of after-effects and just lose his fine motor skills? He could end up beaning someone else in the head...

Since he's showing no symptoms that's probably a low risk, but the NFL suggests that's one of those things that causes cumulative damage.

Carlos needs a day or two off.

Paul Konerko passes Jim Rice on the all time home run list.

Paulie!!!!!

#18, which is two more than the number of thousand square feet of his house in Scottsdale.

PAULIE RAKIN'

Blah 16,000 sq. ft. Isn't enough.

Too bad nobody gets on for Paulie's homers lately.

This is getting dumb.

I love Paul Konerko.

That's 51 interleague homers now for Konerko, tied for 3rd All-Time behind Thome, Griffey JR and tied with Farmer in the Delgado.

That man needs to be an all star.
