I was thinking the same thing. Two hitters and no pitchers just doesn't seem right for this years team.

Well that would explain my dumbness. I had it in my head the final vote system started in '05.

 

Totally sucked the year Frank and Paulie were both on the ballot. Splitting the votes, they were both doomed.

In the defense of most of that, the Soxtalk voting contingent didn't kick in until after '04 and Dye was up against Derek Jeter in '09.

I remembered that it was Yankees players that beat out Sox guys. Maybe it was Swisher.

My memory might also be hazy, but I'm pretty sure both AJ and Pods didn't even get an AB's in the games they were voted in....

 

EDIT: I double checked: Pods was a defensive replacement in the 9th, No AB. AJ didn't get into the game at all...
