July 9, 201114 yr We all heard about what Gammons said today about Oz being fired during the break. Here are 2 tweets from Cowley just now: cst_Cowley Rumor of the day from a scout here in DaBurgh: KW talked to two former managers this week, gaging interest, and one called Oz and told him. cst_Cowley I wouldn't be shocked - Sun-Times reported last offseason that KW reached out to La Russa at the end of 2010.
July 9, 201114 yr QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) Whoever that former manager was that called Ozzie has a lot of nerve. Or was smart enough to know he'll never work for KW.
July 9, 201114 yr So, a free agent manager gets a call from Williams, and he then calls Guillen to let him know? I'm not buying.
July 9, 201114 yr This whole organization is f***ed for years. It's about time to clean up some crap.
July 9, 201114 yr I think, obviously, something has to happen. If Williams truly believes that the White Sox are a 90 win team, and they are underachieving through 90 games, is firing the hitting coach enough of a move to shake things up? Is it a smart move to fire Guillen at the break when some have suggested that they could trade him to Florida in the off-season (I'm assuming that this wouldn't happen during the break)?
July 9, 201114 yr So Cowley reads Soxtalk or WSI, sees Gammons is predicting Ozzie's demise and starts tweeting this. If Ozzie is gone remember how Joe will tell everyone he had the story first.

Here are 2 tweets from Cowley just now: Neither one of those sound plausible. A guy looking for a job is going to call Ozzie? BS. And the Sox reached out to LaRussa? Yeah, I don't see that one either.
July 9, 201114 yr Unfortunately, the cupboard is bare underneath, and the people at the big league level are underachieveing in massive proportions. I'm not sure Ozzie Guillen (who I support) is going to change anything any more. His schtick has ran its course.

I'm not sure Ozzie Guillen (who I support) is going to change anything any more. His schtick has ran its course. I don't agree at all. This team is loaded with talent. The potential is there.

Technically they can't trade him. Who knows maybe the Marlins are ready to give the Sox someone for Ozzie.
July 9, 201114 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 05:28 PM) So Cowley reads Soxtalk or WSI, sees Gammons is predicting Ozzie's demise and starts tweeting this. If Ozzie is gone remember how Joe will tell everyone he had the story first. Kinda cool to make up s*** and be the one who had the story first. I mean, resources from some basement dwelling posters in their underwear can't be right, can they?
July 9, 201114 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 05:30 PM) I don't agree at all. This team is loaded with talent. The potential is there. I don't disagree, but I do think that the message from Ozzie has ran the course because the results just are not there anymore. That's more my point.

If Ozzie is gone remember how Joe will tell everyone he had the story first. That's how I think a lot of these local guys get their stories.....they can use their familiar "sources say" to claim it as their own.
July 9, 201114 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) I don't agree at all. This team is loaded with talent. The potential is there. I'm really starting to have my doubts about the talent. Hope you're right
July 9, 201114 yr If Cooper's the manager, I think we'd all start to worry about the pitching staff again...that he was too distracted by all of his other duties to tend to the fine-tuning that's needed on a weekly basis with some of our guys.
July 9, 201114 yr QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 05:54 PM) I would give it to Coop Pass on that. He does a great job with the pitching staff. Let him focus on that.
July 9, 201114 yr Just put Viceido in as manager and then he can make de focking lineups. So in order to make focking lineups, do they have to hire the Fockers?? :lolhitting :lolhitting Edited July 9, 201114 yr by SpainSOXfan09
