Sox versus Tigers Game thread July 17

Sox batters simply confused by that relief pitcher, then he started busting fastballs, it was like they were sitting on off speed.

If we can't come back, will be a tough loss...Sox looked like they had momentum and this game saps it.

Adam Dunn at this point doesn't even look like a major leaguer. It's sad to watch, but at least he's getting a lot of money.

It's a tough loss but we can't expect to beat Detroit all 3 on the road.

2 out of 3 ain't bad.

This shows how tough it's going to be to catch these teams, though.

Detroit beating us 1 of 3 is fine for them.

Should be interesting to see how we bounce back after bad baseball today.

KC is still pretty s***ty, very s***ty actually.

When you are under .500 and have a chance to step on Tigers throat and sweep and do not, it is yet another lost opportunity in a season of under.500 baseball in mid July.

At this point...we don't have time for tough losses any more. We've given up too many games to fail to win these when we have a chance.

Maybe not, but this feels like a game we had in the bag. Lets try a 9th inning rally. Valverde can be exciting sometimes.

Crain KKKKKKK

Hawk complimenting Hooters on their fish sandwich is somehow creepy.

I agree, but I don't think we can expect this team to magically sweep Detroit in Detroit.

We've blown way too many home games.

Just looked up VMart's splits vs LHP/RHP. Not very happy right now. I don't get that he was too good of a clutch hitter to pitch to him in that game Cabrera homered off of Crain in the 9th, but not good enough to pitch around with an open base.

its true, this team wins in spite of that fool

If they can't do things like finish off a sweep after being spotted 3 runs, then they don't deserve the division.

Stop making excuses Greg. We should have put this away early

Agreed, that's not the attitude the sox can have in there position.

AJ is kinda due here in the 2nd half

One thing's for sure, we'll never be in a better position to sweep a team.

Humber's been our "ace" all season long and has now given up 4+ runs in his last two outings.

We just can never seem to get over the hump. That's something like 1-7 now this season when we're 2 games under .500, sad.

You take 2 out of 3, but how many times the past few years have the Sox failed to sweep after winning the first 2 of 3? It seems is almost an automatic loss.

This game isnt over, AJ just needs to get on.

I so thought AJ was going to try to walk to first on ball 3 there.

Keep fighting AJ

swung at ball 4. idiot.

Maybe Valverde's more comfortable with RISP against him?

AJ swinging at a crazy pitching out of the strike zone. At least we're elevating his pitch count over the last couple of games.

If AJ gets on and the Sox do something this inning, Tyler Flowers is going to play.

If Brent Lillibridge doesn't pinch run here...

Great AB

AJ was so proud he walked.

Great at bat AJ

Frodo takes AJs place at 1st
