While sabermetrics may not rate Juan too highly, if you look at grindometrics, he is actually a good ballplayer.

Good play by Morel.

I see your point with Castro and Flowers (though Bridge is getting up there).

And regarding Ramirez, are doubles, walks and home runs are meaningless to you?

Personally I've been disappointed in Lexi this season. If I'm way off base then I mistakenly offend the Lexi-lovers as they offend me when they hate on Juan.

Somebody else was bagging on Lexi the other day as well.

To the 80 percent of America who still follow batting average, his batting average is excellent.

His defense is fine.

His willingness to learn how to bunt and get a hit off a bunt is very excellent.

He's a good ballplayer.

I actually was one of his defenders last year because of his defense. His defense this year has been a mess, and especially a mess when the 9th inning rolls around for some reason. He's cost us several games on defense and saved virtually none.

With the way Alexei started this season he looked like he was going to be a lot better, but he's been in this ground ball to the LH side groove since about May 1 that has really hurt, especially causing DP's. He's been a lot more useful than Pierre because he's actually hit the ball hard, but no where near as good as it seemed like he should have been.

Last year Juan was really, really good at D.

This year, no.

And any offense out of a defensive SS of his caliber is a bonus. He's the best player on this team.

You guys that love sabes can bury me, but to the average Joe, Lexi's .263, 12 homers and 49 RBis and six stolen bases scream mediocre season to me, also 64 runs scored.

I still like him a lot. He's a likeable player.

Edited by greg775

He scores runs because he gets a lot of PAs with Ramirez/Konerko behind him.

My eye test tells me Paulie is the best player on the team, sabes be damned.

Danks is pitching a good game but the two walks right there are what cost him from actually being an elite pitcher

I can't believe simply calling Juan a good baseball player can cause so much angst.

You guys have high standards if you don't agree with me on that.

No, we just watched him in the OF in April.

Ah, April.

I hope you guys despise a whole batch of White Sox for April.

Pierre is a nice player the sox just expect more out of him than he can provide because of Morel, Rios, Rios and Dunn being useless.

I watched him have no power all season, too.

Johnny needs to keep throwing strikes and stop worrying about a certain accomplishment. He might not make it past the 7th inning at this rate.

If Juan Pierre had followed up April with a few months of .800+ OPS or really good fielding, I'd care less.

You're ridiculous...I pray that Ozzie takes Juan with him to Florida next year so you can see how terrible of a player he is.

They made that a base hit.

Damn.

this would've been a 200 pitch no-no without Butler's hit

so it wouldn't have gone that far anyway

I'll take "nice player." That's good enough. I think he's a good baseball player as well.

You guys that dislike Juan. If he somehow got his average to .295 would you still say he's not even "good?" Amazing how different Sabes people are than the average fan/announcer.

Well that was quick. Get Johnny out of there.....

Calling Juan a terrible baseball player is just wrong.

It is so wrong.
