August 26, 201114 yr After seeing how Rios and Manny worked out, JR has probably ban KW from claiming anyone making more than minimum on waivers.

August 27, 201114 yr Indians were ones who claimed Kubel. I do want to know who we claimed, as KW said it was someone who wouldn't impact this year's roster?

August 27, 201114 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 12:40 PM) if the Twins were giving him away for nothing, sure why not. If the Twins were asking for something legitimate in return, there's no reason to do that sort of deal, you get a draft pick back but that's it. If the Sox had plenty of money to spend, Kubel would fit in as an OK DH option next year. Unfortunately, I think the Sox have spent their DH funds for the near future. The Sox owners have money, they just don't spend much of it and when they do it's put into hands of incompetent management. You can't be all-in and have as many glaring weaknesses the Sox did going into the season. If you're all in you're trying to get Granderson (which was doable during the off-season if the Sox had offered Danks), Beltre and Gonzalez. All they got for they're all-in trouble was a 48 million dollar stiff. And now the Sox are Dunn. Maybe someday the Sox will have ownership committed to producing an elite organization. Jordan or John? Cause neither of those was happening.

Granderson, Beltre and Gonzalez? Hmmm. Unrealistic much? Though a competent farm could've landed Agon.

Yeah, but paying him $21 million a year is the problem most other teams had. Although considering Rios & Dunn combined are making more than that, I think it would have been worth it.
