I also doubt Ohman gets cloned.

I'd guess that this move does increase the chances he's moved...but that moves Santiago into the pen as a 2nd lefty, and Reed is still barely making it. No room for Axelrod, no room for Stewart, no room for Infante, unless they outpitch Reed in ST.

He is an interesting one. The problem is if you make Sale a starter, and trade Matt, you have no lefty depth left.

I would be stunned if Reed isn't a lock for the bullpen out of ST.

Nothing says all in like spending on adequate relief pitching!

Santiago clearly seems next in line in that case.

He has to be on this team somewhere.

DING!

We're definitely strong from the right-side. The bullpen as a whole would be a real strength if we held onto Thornton, although I still think he's gone if we get a half-way decent offer for him.

Too lazy to look, but was Santiago effective against lefties in the minors last year?

Thornton is going to have good value this offseason, relatively speaking. There is really no left handed pitching on the open market and he is a mere 1 year removed from being the best lefty in the game. He will have enough value. I don't see him coming back.

If they have Humber and Sale in the rotation, I think they'll need a long reliever that can give 4-5 innings occasionally. I don't think they have that now.

I'd like Axelrod on the team next year.

Payroll @ $94M

God forbid we take that 3.75 million and invest it in the draft. No! None of that. Let's give it to a 34-year old reliever on a team that as currently constructed will win about 75 games.

Are any of these guys very good at getting lefties out too? If so, it reduces the need for a left-handed setup man and maybe you can by with Santiago or Leesman as a second loogy.

With all due respect, I've given up on this current regime investing in the draft. Even if they had saved nearly 4 million with Frasor, there's no way it was going towards the draft.
